The African Penguin (Spheniscus demersus), also known as the Black-footed Penguin is a species of penguin, confined to southern African waters. It is known as Brilpikkewyn in Afrikaans,Inguza or Unombombiya in Xhosa,[1] Manchot Du Cap in French and Pingüino Del Cabo inSpanish.[2][3] It is also widely known as the "Jackass" Penguin for its donkey-like bray, although several species of South American penguins produce the same sound.
Before going to South Africa, I knew they had the penguins there... and I knew that I wanted to see them. Who doesn't love penguins? On our second full day in Cape Town, we took a tour of the peninsula. During that tour we stopped at Boulder Beach to see the Penguins. They were as cute as ever with lots of baby Penguins too.
I took a ton of pictures... in fact our tour guide, Jason, was watching me and said "Good thing you don't have a film camera, or else you would have taken a whole roll by now". Although he was being sarcastic, it was the truth. I told him if he had a camera like mine he would be doing the same thing. I told him to take a few pictures with my camera and it would change his world. He said he would add it to his Bucket List (which I think I made him start... I think that is my mission in life is to get everyone to have a Bucket List). Anyway... how can you not take pictures of these guys. They are so cute. I loved watching them. Out of all the pictures I took... these are the ones that I narrowed down to my favorites.
