Our stake as a quilting service activity every year. The stake all comes together every year to tie knots on quilts for a good cause. In addition, the stake always hopes that from members of the stake coming together to perform service.... that there will be some people that leave wanting to tie the knot in marriage. They swear every year at least one couple gets married because of this activity. It has become a running joke in the stake... but regardless, we are there to serve.
A month or so ago my photographer BFF asked a few of us if we would be willing to help him take pictures of this event. I think there were a couple of maybe's and then I said I would. Well... I had no idea that I would be really sick that day with no voice. I really didn't want to go. I didn't think it would be a big deal to miss (and I'm sure it wouldn't have for anyone else but me) because there was one person taking pictures and it was probably just for our stake website. Because I promised my photographer BFF that I would go... I did. I was super late, and I looked, felt and sounded like crap... but I went. Cause that's how I roll. If I say I'm going to do something, I do it.
I got there and started taking pictures. I then decided to ask why they wanted these pictures and they told me to submit to the Ensign. Say what? Pressure is on now! Not that I wouldn't have taken good pictures before I knew that... but it was a push for me to try and put more effort into it than I was planning.
I am not sure these pictures are amazing and Ensign material.... but it would be pretty sweet if some of my pictures made it in the Ensign. Right? Keep your eye out for Stake quilting activities. I will let you know if I hear anything more about it. Until then.... I'm glad that I went even though I didn't want to. Here are my pictures. (Picture at the top and picture with me in it were taken by my Photographer BFF Jamen)
