I guess I should date him...
I had plans with Austin. We have only been out a couple times and I am still trying to decide how I feel about him. I flaked on our plans because I was having bad cramps. So he came over with flowers and chocolates and meds. What? I feel like when a guy does that... you should probably give him a chance. So I guess I will....

Mr. Business Card
My co-worker, Candice, and I went to the post office to run an errand for our boss. We were at the table filling out some information to put in the package we were sending back for our boss. The table is in the line and faces all the stations to talk to the tellers. We are minding our own business talking to each other when this guy that just finished at one of the stations approaches me.
He gets my attention and then tells me that I look familiar and asked me if we knew each other. He doesn't look familiar to me AT ALL.. so I said no politely and told him he didn't look familiar to me. He didn't drop it. He starts asking me what ward I am in and where I work. I tell him knowing that it isn't going to help because I know for a fact that we have never met before. I continued to try and be polite although at this point I was starting to get a tad bit annoyed because I was with Candice and we were in the middle of a conversation. I told him that I get that a lot... that I look like someone that someone knows, so maybe I just have a familiar face. Then he goes on and tells me that we are probably Facebook friends because he has a ton of Facebook friends... so he probably knows me from there. I don't know why he insists that we know each other, but I assure him that we are not Facebook friends. Meanwhile... Candice is just standing there watching this awkward conversation and the longer it went on the more awkward I was feeling.
He finally gives up and says... oh well. If you ever need a lawyer, give me a call... and hands me his business card. Mmmm.... ok? Random? Candice joked and said I probably will because I get in trouble a lot. Then he just looks at her and says... I'm not that kind of lawyer. Candice and I both just give each other a weird look and wait for him to leave.... which he finally did.
It was such an odd interaction that I didn't quite know what to make out of it. Candice thought he was trying to pick up on me. Odd way of doing it if that was the case... and I wasn't flattered.... he wasn't attractive at all. When we went back to work we told a few people what happened and some said he was just trying to promote his business. If that was true... that is an odd way of doing it.
I wasn't quite sure what to make out of it or could figure out what he was trying to accomplish... but it gave Candice and I a good laugh.

Mr. Snapchat
Early October of 2015 ( a year and 4 months ago) I went out with this guy that I met online. I even blogged about him, but I won't reference the blog post since I try to keep my guy stories anonymous. We only went out the one time. It was fun... we hung out Friday night and then went on a hike Saturday. However, he lived at the airforce base in Ogden... so I knew that we wouldn't really see each other much.
Well... we continued texting each other for a couple of months after we hung out and we followed each other on Instagram and would like each others pictures, but then I noticed he got a girlfriend. So... I unfollowed him on Instagram and we are still facebook friends... but I made it so his pictures and stuff didn't show up in my feed. Out of sight, out of mind.
Months and months go by. He stopped liking my pictures... I wasn't even sure if he followed me anymore. I didn't even think about him anymore. His mom was following me on Instagram as well... and she stopped liking my pictures as well, so I don't know if she followed me anymore either, but who cares... he was dating someone.
This last fall (a year after we went out once) I noticed that he started liking my pictures again on Instagram. Not all the time, but occasionally. I checked his page... still dating the girl. It's fine, he is just liking my pictures, that is all.
A couple of months ago, he added me on Snapchat... which I really don't use. If someone sends me a snapchat, I send one back and that is pretty much all I use it for. I find it to be kind of stupid. Maybe because I don't like taking selfie's and that is what people do. Anyway... I added him, but didn't really think much of it.
A month ago, I receive a snapchat from him. A picture of him and saying he was bored at work. Now... I don't use snapchat much, but I know that you can send a snapchat to everyone in your contact list. So I wasn't sure if he just sent one to me or to everyone. Either way... I responded because that is what I do. I find it rude not to respond to people when they reach out to you. So I sent a snapchat back saying hi. This started up conversation.... I asked him what was new since we last spoke. He said nothing... just work. He asked me what was new with me and I told him work and travel and he told me how much he loved seeing my pictures and all the cool things I do.
Conversation ended and I thought... I wonder when he and his girlfriend broke up.... because that is what guys do. They break up after a long relationship, they get lonely and then reach out to old flings. I have seen it before. This wasn't the first time a guy has done that to me. So I go to his Instagram page. Still says he is in a relationship with that same girl. What? I look at his last post... the last post with the girl was in August... so nothing in the last 4 or 5 months. Maybe he just hasn't updated it? So naturally I feel the need to continue my stalking. Now I was super curious and confused. We are still facebook friends... so I went to his facebook page. I start looking at his info and looking through his pictures.
What did I find out? Well... not only are he and the girl still together, but then GOT MARRIED in August. I have to throw in the fact that he and this girl are not even Mormon and under the age of 25... so the fact that they started dating and got married within 7 months is kind of nuts. So he is totally married and I continue looking and I see that... they are expecting a baby! No joke. From my stalking... I could see that she did all the posting and he didn't post much about them together after they got married.
My jaw dropped. Why was he reaching out to me? Over the next couple of days after that he would send some snap chats to me. Were they just to me? Or to everyone? I don't know... but why did he add me a couple of months ago? Do I call him out on it? Or let it go because he wasn't flirting or trying to do anything sketchy? He wasn't trying to make a pass so I decided to ignore and let it go.
The other day I get a another snapchat from him. No picture, it is just text. It says.. "I still think about the night and next day adventure that we had together".
Really? You are married and have a kid on the way and you are thinking about that one time we spent together over a year ago? Think about your wife dude... think about your wife.

My Jerusalem Boyfriend
When I travel, I like to get on Tinder... you know, just to see who is around me. Most of the time I don't really match with anyone... I usually see there isn't really a lot of interest for the local men and I get off. In Brazil I matched with some cute guys, and chatted with some, but I didn't meet anyone. I mean... I was traveling with Stacey.. might have been a little weird.
Well, on this trip, I matched with A TON. Turns out... there are a lot of attractive Israeli men and Israeli men for some reason love me.
I went out with one guy in Tel Aviv. He just wanted to "hook up" so I put the kabosh on that date pretty quick. I mean, he was nice enough... but I didn't want to give him any false hope.
I got back on and started swiping in Jerusalem. I got a "Super Like" from a guy named Eli. He was young.... but I thought he was cute, so I swiped right. Not too much longer he started chatting with me. He seemed sweet and had a great sense of humor. He wanted to meet me that night (the first night I got to Jerusalem). I wasn't sure at first.... but since I was out anyway with a bunch of people from our hostel, I told him he could meet me at the open mic bar that we were at... so he came and met me there.
We had fun chatting... so we soon left with Deb and went to get something to eat. Then headed back to the hostel... but Deb went ahead so Eli and I split off. We ended up chatting that night until 4am. My boss was texting me pictures of her new eyelash extensions... forgetting that I was 9 hours ahead of her... but it didn't matter because I was up. Ha ha.
We had so much fun that he text me the next day saying he had fun and wanted to see me again that night. How could I argue. I had fun as well. I tried to get him to come with Deb and I during the day, but I would only see him at night. The next night he came to get me at the hostel and took me to an apartment complex where his friend lived to take me up to the rooftop so we could see the city lights. Pretty romantic huh? He knows how to put on the charm. It was another fun night of conversation and laughing until 4:30am. This is probably why I got sick the next day... not enough sleep. As soon as he found out I wasn't feeling well, within 20 minutes he was at my hostel with tea and medication for me. It didn't really help, but I thought it was the sweetest gesture I have had from a guy in a long time. He is a gentleman that really loved being with me not trying to just "hook up" with me and leave like most other guys I meet online. He genuinely likes me. It was so nice for a change. Even if it was for only a few days.
I ended up staying in Jerusalem for 5 or 6 days and we saw each other everyday... except for Sabbath. Oh yeah... did I tell you that he was super Jewish? We found out that Jews and Mormons have a lot in common. Ha ha... but obviously still a lot of differences. It was a fun week with this boy. It was very unexpected.... obviously. I mean... who goes to Israel and ends up dating someone for a week while they are there? Ha ha. Thanks Eli for making my trip to Jerusalem even more fun and for making me feel so special. Almost forgot what it was like to be treated that way by a guy.

Mr. Reason Why Women are Insecure.
As many of our know, the majority of the guys that I meet are online. It's just a sad fact of my life. Sure, I would love to meet guys in real life, the natural way, but it just doesn't seem to be the way the world is headed. So it is what it is.
Meeting people online is tricky. It is very much based off of looks. I try to be open minded... I ask myself... could I be attracted to this guy if he has a great personality? Ha ha... It's just hard.
Well, I started talk to this guy... Mr. Reason Why Women are Insecure. He is in his mid 30's. He is very fit... and short, which seems to be the case with a lot of really fit guys. I found him to be somewhat attractive, enough that I would go out with him and see what he was all about.
We exchanged numbers to take it off of the site and he said he wanted to take me out or do something together. I told him I enjoyed being outdoors, so we talked about going on a hike after work one day. He was asking me what day would work best. This is the text conversation that followed that made my blood boil.
* I'm going to shorten Mr. Reason Why Women are Insecure to Mr. RWWAI*
Mr. RWWAI - "When are you free to meet up and tell me all about it?"
* I had just gotten back from Puerto Rico*
Me - "Next week sometime?"
Mr. RWWAI - "That's a pretty broad time frame. Shall we narrow is down? How about Monday night?"
Me - "Depends what time. I meet with my personal trainer at 6:30"
Mr. RWWAI - "Personal trainer... are you trying to drop weight?"
Me - " Drop weight & Inches and get toned"
Mr. RWWAI - "What weight are you trying to get down to?"
*Did he really just ask me that? He has some nerve. Honestly, why does it matter?*
Me - "My goal weight"
Mr. RWWAI - "Which is what number?"
Me - "Yeah, my reply was on purpose"
Mr. RWWAI - "Are you a bit self conscious about your body?"
*At this point I'm mad and no longer want to go out with him. Is he that shallow? I felt like no matter how I answered, he was going to take it the wrong way. Plus a number on the scale doesn't mean everything. It doesn't take into consideration how tall you are and your body structure and body fat %... but I am not going to argue about this. Plus not only fat people go to personal trainers. A lot of the girls I train with are not overweight but just wanting to get into better shape*
Me - " Just always trying to improve and be healthier. I'm not as motivated on my own, so the personal trainer has been great to push me way more than I would push myself"
After that there was no response and I didn't hear from him for almost a week. All of the sudden he text me and asked me if we were still going out. HA! NO!!! I told him after our last conversation and then not hearing from him for a long time, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't happening. He said oh sorry, I was in yellowstone. What, so you couldn't finish out the conversation? I had no interest in going out with him at this point so I stopped responding to him after that text.
This guy... he is the reason why girls ARE self conscious and insecure. I get people have different types, but just move on then, you don't have to have a conversation with a girl you have never met about her weight and if she is insecure about her body. No thank you.

Catfished
Catfish
1. A freshwater or marine fish with whisker like barbels around the mouth, typically bottom-dwelling.
2. To lure someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona.
You know how I have been watching a ton of the tv show "Catfish"? Well... I already knew of many online red flags to look out for that are fishy, but I have learned some new tricks from the show. I actually tried these tricks on Mr. Mystery... but I couldn't find anything on him. So maybe he was for real.
So I got a message from this really cute guy online.... he looked like this.
I know... way out of my league. That should have been my first clue. We started chatting and then he asked for my number so I gave it to him. We chatted for a little bit but I discovered that he just wanted to talk dirty. NOT INTERESTED!!!
I asked him to send me a picture of him right then.. because he only had 2 pictures on his profile and and there was a chance that they were not him. He told me his camera on his phone was broken!!! Possible, but VERY unlikely. After quickly dismissing taking a picture he went back to talking dirty and I blocked him and stopped talking to him.
Afterwords I was just curious though, so I decided to do a little research to see if my suspicions were true.
First thing I did was put one of his pictures into Google Image search. It pulled up a TON of stuff. A lot of which was on Pinterest under "Hot guy selfie" there were a few profiles that showed up. I wanted to know who it REALLY was though. After doing some more digging... I found him. His name is Marcello Alvarez and he was from Brazil.
Well, I figured the picture was a fake... so who was I talking to? I looked up his phone number on Facebook and only 1 profile came up that matched the number... it could or could not be it, but I'm thinking it is it. Same area. His name was James. I was hoping to find out what he looked like, but his profile was SUPER private and there were no pictures. It did say that he was married though. Let's hope that wasn't the guy... but again, I think it was.
A lot of creeps out there folks. I am just glad I know when things are fishy. There are so many people that get sucked into an online fantasy and then come to find out it was all a lie. It's crazy. I'm sure that I have had fakes talking to me before... but this is the first one that I have caught.

Mr. Flake
Like MANY others... I met Mr. Flake online. We chatted back and forth for a few days and it seemed to go pretty well so he asked me for my number and then asked me if he could "have the honor of taking me on a date". Well, how do you say no when someone asks you like that?
Looking through each others schedules (especially mine this week) we decided to meet on Wednesday. Home boy doesn't have a car, so I agreed to meet him in Salt Lake after work. Typically I like to meet in the middle, but I was feeling nice. He asked me to meet him at a Tea place. I agreed.
Wednesday came and I ended up being at work until after 6. He called me right around the time I was about to leave. He called me to make sure we were still on and to set up a time. I still needed to go home and change because it started raining and I also needed to fill up on gas before heading up to Salt Lake. We decided that 7:30 would give me enough time to do that and drive up and give him plenty of time to get dinner. He told me his phone was about to die, so that is why he wanted to set the time. It was all set.
I run home, change and fill up on gas and start my drive to Salt Lake. It was raining. I hate driving in the rain. You can't see as well, people drive like idiots... I just didn't want to drive to Salt Lake in the rain... on top of that, I was tired from a hard workout and a long day at work.... but on I went because I am a woman of my word.
I get to the tea place right on time. I drove 40 minutes and I got there on time. Mr. Flake lives in the area and he was not there. So I waited outside for a few minutes looking around, waiting for him to walk up at any minute. I felt awkward waiting outside by myself... so I went inside. It was awkward waiting inside by myself too... but at least it was the type of place where you could sit and hang out or study or whatever... so I sat at a table by myself and played on my phone... trying to act busy and not awkwardly waiting for a guy that I have never met before. I sat there... waiting by myself for a HALF HOUR. I hadn't heard anything from him, so I was irritated and I didn't feel like waiting any longer. So I walked out and I went to my car.
As soon as I sat down in my car, he called me. I almost didn't answer, but I was so curious of what he was going to say. I pick up. I'm annoyed so I know this conversation isn't going to go well. He tells me he is so sorry. He just plugged in his phone and saw what time it was. He thought he was early... he had lost track of time because his phone died. He told me to drive back and to let him make it up to me. Even though I was still there, just in my car, I told him that I had already left and I didn't want to drive back. I drove 40 minutes, waited for him for another 30 and then had another 40 minute drive home... I didn't want to waste anymore time on him. Also, I was already mad at him before I met him, I don't think it would have gone well anyway... that isn't a good way to meet someone. So I drove home.... in the pouring rain which made me even more mad.
While driving home there were things that went through my mind that made me more mad at him. He called me knowing his phone was dying... so don't you think he would have prepared for that? Bring a watch, look at the clock at the place that you got dinner, charge your phone enough to get by for the night before you leave. He plugged his phone in at the place that we were supposed to meet and started talking to me then. So.... why couldn't he plug it in while he was at dinner... or somewhere else? So much that didn't make sense to me.
He begged me to give him another try. I said I wouldn't go all the way to Salt Lake just the meet him again. He reminds me he doesn't have a car. I tell him, well.... next time I'm in Salt Lake for another reason, I would let him know and maybe it would work out. Honestly, I have no interest in doing that. We haven't spoken since and I'm fine with that.
This is the first time I have EVER been stood up on a date. I hope it is my last.

Mr. Mystery
I go through phases with being active on Tinder. I'm in a semi-active phase.
It started with a right swipe. We matched. Typically I don't write to guys first... not because I'm a snob, but usually guys don't talk unless they talk to you first... or at least not for very long. So most of my matches, I have never talked to. Sad I know, but a lot of people use it as a self esteem boost. Anyway, this guy was cute and I happened to be a little bored so I decided to say hi.
That hi turned into a short conversation getting to know each other a little bit. He asked me what I was doing that night. I told him I was about to go to the lake to watch the sunset. My friend was going to meet me there. I didn't tell him that though. Soon, he is telling me that he is going to the lake to watch the sunset too and that we should meet. But then he kept telling me how nervous he was to meet me. That is kind of cute right? I told him I was with my friend, but when my friend left, I would be happy to meet up with him.
He agreed but then chickened out. He left the lake by the time my friend left. He said he would meet me somewhere else. I mentioned a few places. We finally decided to meet at Slate Canyon Park. I gave him directions there and waited for him. He told me he drove up but didn't see me, but I never saw him. Then he told me he had to go help his dad and wanted to meet up with me later that night. I agreed.... but I didn't hear from him again until I had given up and gone to bed.
I was a little disappointed... just because he was cute and I enjoy meeting new people... but I never put too much stalk into meeting people from Tinder. They rarely lead to anything. I thought it would be fun to meet up and have a fun conversation though.
From that day on, we continued chatting back and forth on Tinder. Started asking each other get to know each other questions and learning more about each other. In fact... I know more about this guy (or I think I do) than I have about any guy since my last boyfriend... which took months to get to know this much. We are so much alike. We think similarly, we act similarly in situations, we want the same things.... I keep waiting for him to say something that I really disagree with every time I bring up a new topic, but so far, he hasn't. Too good to be true? It just might be.
This has been going on for a few weeks now. We still haven't met and he has never even asked me for my phone number... which is not normal. After talking for a certain amount of time, most guys want to move it off of Tinder and just start texting. I have suggested it, but he tells me that his ex girlfriend of 6 years still has his passwords and access to see his text messages and wants to protect me from her. And now he doesn't want to meet until he is really ready because he already feels attached to me and doesn't want to ruin it by me getting involved in his "mess". What is his mess? He tells me he is living with his Grandma and taking care of her full time until she passes, whenever that happens. He told me he also has medical issues himself.
So... do I find it a little fishy that we haven't met and he won't text me and he has an excuse for everything? Absolutely.
So far I have only told my friend Amber about this guy because she was the one with me at the lake when I was going to meet up with him that first night we started chatting. As far as I'm concerned... there is nothing to tell until you actually meet the person and go out more than once. Which hasn't happened. Therefore, nothing to tell. She is convinced that he is married and that is why he won't meet me and that is why he has all the excuses.
That is a possibility. Or, maybe he is just messing with me, making up stories and chatting for his own amusement with no intention of ever meeting.
Or he is not who he says he is and he is afraid to meet because I will find out the truth.
Maybe that ex girlfriend isn't an ex... maybe they are still dating and he is bored so he is having a little fun on the side.
Or he is telling the truth, which would make him even more great because he is taking care of his grandma and we really do have everything in common and could potentially be a great match but he is new to online dating because he was in a relationship for 6 years and so the whole online thing is still new and scary for him.
What do you think? Too fishy? Too good to be true? Is he telling the truth? Or could there be another excuse of why he won't meet me or text me?

I didn't respond to the first message because i'm not interested. Don't you get that? You just can't force someone to be interested in you...

Tinder Moments - Take 2
I'm still on Tinder, being super entertained. I thought I would share a couple more that made me laugh recently.

Mr. Dramatic
Tinder is an interesting place that brings you interesting people. Well I had another interesting interaction with a guy I started talking to on Tinder.
We matched on Tinder a long time ago. I don't even remember when. We talked for a little while on Tinder and then we became Facebook friends and then I gave him my my number. We didn't talk for that long before he sent me something inappropriate and I told him that I wasn't that kind of girl and he said something jerky in return and we didn't talk again.
I had forgotten that we were still Facebook friends. Everyone once in a while I would see him post something churchy (because of what he had sent me I didn't think he was LDS) or post a picture of himself dressed up for church. I thought to myself... mmm... maybe he has cleaned up his act?
Starting in January he would randomly send me messages and say, hey, your cute, we should meet up. I would say ok, but it wouldn't ever happen.
More recently he started poking me on Facebook. Apparently people still do that. Not sure why it is still a feature. Every once in a while I would poke him back because I didn't know what else to do. The beginning of this week he sent me a message and asked how I was doing and said we should go out. I said ok. I'm always willing to give people a second chance if it seems like he cleaned up his act. But who knows. Anyway... he starts texting me again and asks me for a picture. So I send him one, even though we are Facebook friends and he could see all the pictures of me that he wanted. He then tells me how cute I am and that we need to meet. Then he tells me he wants a full body picture. It's late and I just want to go to bed. So I tell him I'm tired and going to bed and responds with "ugh".
Next day after work he texts me again... asking how I am and what I'm up to. I tell him I'm just getting off of work etc... text conversation then goes as follows.
Mr. Dramatic - "You still owe me a picture lol"
Me - "I already sent you a picture, so I don't owe you anything ha ha"
Mr. Dramatic - "Too much attitude"
*What? Didn't you see the ha ha at the end of my sentence. We are joking around with each other right? I'm confused so I don't respond right away*
Mr. Dramatic - " Not attractive. See ya"
Me - "Ha ha... wow...."
"I'm sorry you don't understand the difference between humor and attitude. I don't need drama in my life. See ya!"
But seriously... what happened there? If that is how he interacts with people, I want nothing to do with him. It really made me laugh.

Mr. Cuzco
When John and I were in Peru, we made Cuzco our home base. I only had 2 weeks to do everything that we wanted to do and John was on a budget because he was traveling for 5 months. There are TONS of tourist shops that will try and sell you tours. We finally decided to go into one of those shops and see if they could help us out with tours that fit both of our needs. My time line and John's pricing. The shop we went in to helped us out a lot. So much that we booked all of our tours for the rest of my trip there. I had no idea they could book stuff for you in other cities... he did. It was great. The guy that helped us out was very nice. Would go back and forth from speaking English and Spanish. I understood 90% of what he said. He was middle aged. Pretty sure that he was married and had some kids. He would make little jokes to me and John.... but kept it professional. Never thought much about it. We even had a mix up with the bus that we booked once and he came to the bus station to check up on us and make sure everything worked out. Super nice guy.
On our last visit to his shop to book our last tour knowing we would not be coming back to Cuzco, he had added us both on Facebook and was saying our goodbyes... asking us to give him a good review. This is when he started to get a little flirty. While John was busy he was making small talk with me and kissing me on the cheek to say goodbye. This is normal in most Latin cultures so I still didn't think much of it. We left and the next couple of days he started sending me messages on Facebook saying hi and asking how I was doing. Then I went back home to Utah and he would talk to me every time he saw me online on Facebook. This is when he started getting more flirty and telling me how beautiful I was and commenting on all of my pictures (embarrassing) but I would just ignore it hoping that if I didn't respond to it he would stop.
We started talking less and less... mostly because I started to ignore him. A little more than a year later you would think he would forget about me... but he finds me online again and we have this conversation.
I always attract the older tour guides in the foreign countries I travel to. If only I could attract the guy my age that live near by....
