Homeward Bound

So continuation of my last post.... I also sang with Wes again. People loved that we sang Simon and Garfunkel so much last year that we decided to do another one this year. Last year we did "The Boxer", This time we chose another favorite... "Homeward Bound". Wes is a little louder than me this time... but people still loved it.

Sara and Tara also did a talent. Kind of a big deal because they have never been in a talent show before. They rapped "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. It was legit. They got some guys in the ward to break dance in the back (they sucked... but that was the point). I cheered SO loud for them.

I love that Wes is my singing BFF. I'm going to be so sad if he moves. P.S. We are almost done with recording our album if anyone wants a copy.... let me know. :)

Forget About the Boy!

Thursday was our ward talent show. I mentioned that I had been practicing a lot for it. This is because I was in 3 different acts. Wes and I always sing together, so I knew that we would sign up for that. We didn't really require practice though... I knew they wanted to perform Hairspray again... we got together 2 different nights for a couple hours each to go over it again. It took up some time... but not a lot.

Sunday... last Sunday, like 4 days before the talent show, I was sitting next to my friend Sarah. The talent show sign up was going around and she signs her an her roommate up for a tap act. She turns to me and asks if I want to do it with them. I light up with excitement as I accept the invitation. I love tap and hardly ever do it.  That night I go over to their house thinking they already have something together since it is 4 days before the show. Nope! They know they want to do it to "Forget About the Boy" from the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie". I was excited. Love that musical. So they quickly made up most of the dance. I quickly got worried about signing up with them because they are dancers, Sarah does theater, they both have a lot more dancing and performing experience than I do. I had also not tapped in like 6 years and they were pulling out a lot of dance moves that I had to see if I even remembered how to do. We practiced each night and I improved each night, but I still worried a little because I kept messing up. Two days before the talent show, Sarah decides she is going to sing it but didn't know any of the words. I asked her if she was worried. Of course not. ha ha. She is a pro, don't know why I even asked.

Talent show night, we were 4th on the program and I didn't mess up! Woohoo!! I was so happy. I was so impressed that we put that together and pulled it off in 4 days. Not only was it so fun to do... but everyone loved it. A few people even told me it was their favorite part of the talent show. This made me so happy. We had so much fun doing it together. I really need to dance more... I love it so much. Oh... and a little something we added to the song, there is a part where they name off all of these boys, and we replaced those names with the names of boys in our ward. The boys that were named felt so special, they loved it. ha ha. Everyone else thought it was pretty funny too. Anyway... there is the background behind it all, now I will be quite and let you watch it!

Wait.... what? Two posts in one day? Stop it. ha ha. I guess it happens sometimes. Today it is happening because I had to do my traditional flashback friday, but today is also Star Wars day... so I have to tell you how I celebrated.

I spent the day with Jay and Rich. We went diving and I will blog more about that soon.... but all you need to know is that we spent the whole day together, we all wore Star Wars shirts (Jay even sported his Star Wars hat) and when we went out to eat and anywhere else we went, we wished people Happy Star Wars Day and said May the 4th be with you. Not everyone knew how to react. Not a lot of people know about Star Wars Day... but the ones that do, well they got pretty excited about us representing. :)

Here we are at the beginning of the day. This is a better view of the shirts (even though it is blurry). Yes, I am sporting the Lego Star Wars. I happen to love legos so I thought it was a win win.

On our drive back, we listened to a Star Wars mix that Rich had. Who does that? We do... and we liked it. Because we were diving on Star Wars Day, we thought about diving and taking pictures with Star Wars stuff... but turns out it is good that we didn't do that because the visibility on our dive was pretty crappy. However, we did bring it a long, so we just got a picture when we got back from our dive. I have Queen Amildala lotion and Rich has a Yoda alarm clock. I think this is the most I have celebrated Star Wars day ever... and it was awesome. I will never compare to my friend Karen... but.... at least I celebrated right? *I took two because one you can see the shirts and hat better and the other one you can actually see the Yoda clock*

Flashback Friday 63

Today let us go back to the year 2002.

I'm not sure why I have not blogged about Far West Technology and Health Physics more. It was a big part of my life. It was my first job. I started when I was 15 and worked there for almost 5 years. I was like a legend there. It was the perfect job to have while I was in school because they were so flexible and worked around your schedule. I could just work after school and they were not open on weekends. I could listen to music while I worked... but best of all, there was a point where all of my friends worked there with me... so going to work was kind of fun because I got to hang out with my friends. I could not even begin to tell you the things we would talk about there. Conversations got weird, we would all listen to music together, we would play games... my sister can confirm. When you are all stuck in a room doing a boring job day after day, you get creative on entertainment. Ha ha, we had fun though.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 116

Oh wow... what a week it has been. It has been SO busy that it has just flown on by. Seriously. Even at work things got super busy for me... which is good.  Let me try and remember what even happened this week.

Monday we had a BBQ as a ward. That was pretty fun. After that I got out my tap shoes and practiced for the ward talent show. More about that in another post. I had not tapped in like 6 years. So fun. In fact, I have been having a blast with all of the dancing I have done in this past week. Ballroom, tap, practicing for Hairspray and Zumba. I love it. Dancing really does make me happy. I really should have done it more growing up and I should probably be doing it more now... like take a class or something.

Over the weekend I noticed that I was starting to get a cold. This was not acceptable with my week plans... the talent show and an adventure I am going on tomorrow with Jay and Rich. The cold had started, but it wasn't bad. It didn't start out with a soar throat like it normally does. I could breathe fine, I just was a little congested. I did everything in my power to make it go away and not get worse. I have never tried harder to not let a cold come on full force. I felt fine the whole time but all week I have been taking Nyquil to get good sleep at night, I have been taking airborn morning and night, I have been using nasal spray everyday, I have also been taking Cold Eeze which my visiting teacher swore by (and she was also sweet and left a note and some Cold Eeze at my back door one morning), I drank a half gallon of Orange Juice because Jay told me that would make it go away AND I told Rich and Jay and my visiting teacher that they all had to pray for me to feel fine by the end of the week. Ha ha. Anyway.... I really have felt fine this whole time, but I have been worried that it won't be good enough. Anyway, I am sure I will be fine tomorrow.

For Christmas my dad got my mom season tickets to the Hale Center Theater. My mom had told me a while back that they were going to be doing "The Secret Garden" which my mom knew that I loved the music and really wanted to see it... so she was nice enough to take me with her on Tuesday. I LOVED it. They did such an amazing job in that tiny theater and their singing was fabulous. It was just beautiful to listen to and their costumes were great too. My favorite song from that musical will always be "Lilly's Eyes". My mom and I had a great time. Great show.

Pretty much my whole week has been dedicated to practicing for the talent Show that was tonight. Probably because I was in 3 different acts. I was only worried about one though.... the tap number. A lot of people told me it was their favorite act of the night. I was so happy I actually did the whole thing without messing up! SUCCESS!!! I will have a whole post about it. The talent show was a lot of fun but now I am glad it is over because I have not been able to do anything else. ha ha. I do love to perform though, so I'm glad that I was so involved this time around. :) I don't know where my love for performing came from... because I didn't perform a lot growing up, except for choir and singing in church with the family.

Oh, and I got a pedicure. It was LONG overdue. I always get a flower on my big toe, but after looking at my roommates toes... I was thinking maybe I should try out the glitter toes. Mmmm.... I don't know. I need to get married ASAP... because the longer I am single the more high maintenance I become. ha ha

More Blossoms

Birthday Laser Tag

Along with all the birthday dinner's We went to Brick Over for Jay's Birthday, which was the day after Vicki's, Saturday. After dinner he wanted to play laser tag, so play laser tag we did!

We first went to Laser Assault in Provo because it is a little bigger and closest. While we were waiting to see how long the wait would be for us... I was playing. Peter Pan Syndrome for Life!

Then we found out we would be waiting for a long time, so we headed to Nickel City. We didn't really have to wait at all there. So we split up, 3 on 3. Me, Jay and Rich = Blue Team. Liz, Stuart and Thomas = Red Team. Guess which team won? Yep, mine. Go blue! The funny part is... when I was talking about laser tag as an option with Jay earlier that day he said to make sure to tell everyone to let him win because it was his birthday. I know he was joking, and I totally forgot about that anyway... but guess who got first place? Birthday boy. Guess who got second place? ME!! I think that is the best I have ever played. Ha ha.  Not too shabby.

I have never played as much laser tag as I have with people in this ward. I have to say though... it's a good time. Good time indeed.
