4th of July!!

Happy Independence Day! I started off my day very differently than I ever had before... I ran my first race, a 5K with thousands of other people in Provo. We will not talk about the time I got, but I did feel a great sense of accomplishment, I might just want to do another one sometime. I got my friend Rashae to run with me, but I don't think she felt the same way about it. Lets be honest... we were proud of ourselves for getting up at 6am on our day off to pay to run. Ha! Anyway... it was a great way to start off the day. And the race goes by all the people that are camped out and waiting for the parade. They cheer for you as you run by, which is more encouraging than it sounds.

After resting from the run and hanging out with my sister, I went with a few friends to Cafe Rio to pick up dinner and then on to Thanksgiving Point to set up blankets relax and eat dinner while we watched the firework show. It was good times in great company. (It was a double date)

After the fireworks were over and we were done talking and such, we decide to head home and notice the air is quite foggy, so we roll down the windows to discover that it is not fog at all (which would have been odd for Utah) but it was smoke. We then noticed that streets were blocked off by our house by police and fire trucks. We walk over to the field that is right next to my house that happened to be in flames just to join my others from my ward that were all there watching the firemen put out the flames and taking pictures. Apparently they were going to evacuate Deer Haven (where I live) because the fire was that bad. Thankfully they got it under control and it didn't have to come to that. But man... what a way to end the day. All because most likely some punk kid wasn't being careful with their fireworks. Well... at least it is nothing compared to what my family is going through back home with the fires there. But this fire was very close to my home. So that was my Independence Day in a nut shell.

My brother was trying to get me to run the Park City half marathon with him next month. Luckily it's the same day as my Grandpa's wedding...hehe. I love to run, but I think I am more of a 5k or maybe 10k kind of girl right now.

Good Job!
