Birthday Dinners

I usually don't go out to eat a lot, but this month has been full of birthday's where we have been celebrating with yummy food. I blogged about going out to eat for Rachel's birthday. The next weekend we went to Tucanos in SLC (because Provo was booked) to eat for Rachel and Vicki's birthday because you get a free dinner for your birthday month. We all prepared by hardly eating anything that day so we could stuff ourselves that night. Accomplished that. Check. I even tried Quail Egg and Chicken Heart.

Our waiter LOVED us. He was always coming over and checking on us and chatting it up. After we didn't need anything else he asked us if we had any other special requests, and I asked for kind of "special requests" he had in mind. ha ha. He did a little rap but wouldn't really perform much for us so we asked him if he would bring us all free ice cream. We were kind of joking, but he totally did.... so that was awesome.

After dinner Vicki and I somehow forgot where we park and were lost in the parking structure.... trying to find out car... for like 45 minutes. I wish I was joking. We even looked lost because these guys stopped and asked us if we lost our car and asked if they found it if they could hang out with us. Ha ha.... we ended up getting picked up by the golf cart and pretty much found the car minutes after that. It was kind of funny and kind of not at the same time.

The next weekend (this last one) we went to B-Dubs aka Buffalo Wild Wings for Vicki's birthday (her actual one). Turns out it was Jay's birthday the next day and he also loves B-Dubs, so he came along. The next night we went to Brick Oven for Jay's birthday. I'm done eating out for a while!

In case you are wondering, Jay and I are a lot more dressed up than everyone else because we went up to Murray and met up with some other people in the ward to go ballroom dancing.... which was really fun by the way. I needed to create some new and better memories there. I never took ballroom classes or anything, but I loved it and now I want more!!! ha ha.

Happy Birthday to all of my April friends. Good times were had!

Batting Cages

Thursday evening, after Vicki and Tara went with me to Women's Conference... we went to Trafalga to get our picture taken for the Pass of All Passes. For those of you who don't know what the Pass of All Passes is, it is a card that you have (for a year) unlimited admission to 7 Peaks Water Park, unlimited admission to all the Trafalga's for Go Carts, mini golf and batting cages. I think it also includes some Bee's Games and some other stuff. While we were there, we saw that there was hardly anyone there, so we decided to take advantage of the Batting Cages. Let's be honest, I need lots of batting practice for when Softball season comes. I'm okay, but I'm not great. So we batted. It was awesome because for a while we were the only ones there.

While I was batting... I noticed something happened to the bat. It felt funny. I looked down at it and it was bent. I came out of the cage and showed Tara and Vicki and we all started laughing and Tara broke it off. When we took it back to the guy at the counter, he asked if we broke it. We said yes and he said that he had never seen anyone here break a bat. I felt pretty strong and awesome even though it was probably just luck that we got a SUPER worn out bat.

We had a good time and hopefully we will be back a lot to practice. Next time I need batting gloves.... and shoes. The end.

Women's Conference

At Woman's Conference this year, my mom and Aunt were in charge of a station in the show room. They asked me if I would take pictures for their station. I of course was happy to help. It was a fun challenge to get what they wanted. A couple I already had.

I ran into a couple of girls that I knew in the show room. It was fun to see Megan and Ali.

As I looked around the show room, there were many things that I saw at stations that I have seen on Pintrest. What would we all do without it. ha ha.  This was one of my favorites... and I think everyone's else's favorite as well because it was crowded and everyone was taking pictures.

My mom and Aunt's station turned out cute. I thought the pictures turned out great. :)

Here is a close up of the pictures that I took.

I was very glad that I got to go and be a small part of it. Wish I got to go to actual classes, but I had to work. Oh well, maybe another year.

Flashback Friday 62

Today's flashback takes us back to August 2003. I was about to move to Utah and Lolly and I decided we wanted to have a picnic up at Knapps Castle one evening and we invited Tom and McKay. It was beautiful. I love Knapps Castle. We had fun up there too... we even made a mini movie. I wonder if I still have the video somewhere.  All I remember is that is was pretty silly. Oh how I miss Santa Barbara.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 115

What a week. I have been up late every night. I really need to work on getting more sleep. There has just been so much going on... and the weather has been SOOOO perfect and it has gotten to that point where you can be outside at night and it is not cold, you can be in shorts and a t-shirt and be just fine. I love that. You find lots of people outside at this time of year and I love it.

I loved the weekend because I spent so much time outside. It has been really fun to play softball again because it has been so long. I love that I can find people to play with all the time. Life is so much more fun when you are playing... although I didn't get as much done as I wanted to... like a trip to the DI to get rid of some stuff and a trip to FYE to see if they will buy my used CD's. Do they do that? I sure hope so because I have a lot I want and need to get rid of. Oh well, maybe this weekend.

Our ward talent show is coming up. You better believe that I will be performing in it. Our Hairspray crew decided to get together again and perform our little 5 minute show at the talent show... so we needed to refresh and practice. Everyone got so excited to get together again... we really became a little family. We added a few new people to the show to replace the ones that couldn't do it this time around or are gone. For example my partner. Since he needed to learn everything from the beginning we started practicing at 8 last night and went until 10:30. It was fun but I was pretty tired by the end. And then we decided to watch Hairspray again after that because Rich and Jay had never seen it. Love that movie. So maybe I will get a better recording of it this time around? We shall see.

I went to yoga at Novell for the first time this week. I only went because my pilates instructor was teaching it. I usually don't like yoga... but this class wasn't bad. If she taught every week, I would probably consider going. She is so great, every week she writes on my wall on facebook telling me what music I have to look forward to in my next day in class. She is great and I have come to really love that class even though it kicks my butt every time. It has been really good for me and I have seen a lot of improvement with myself.

I went over to a friend's house this week and I made a new friend. Her name is Luna. No, not Luna from Harry Potter. Luna the rabbit. This is the first time I have seen anyone with a pet rabbit in deer haven since I have lived here. My friend let me hold her for a long time and I was loving it. It made me miss the days when I had bunny rabbits. Luna is super mellow too and loves to be held, so I was happy. I told my friend that when I am having a hard day that I want to come over and hold Luna from now on. She said I could for sure do that, so I am pretty happy about that.

Photo of the Week 113

Happy Anniversary to my Mom and Dad. So glad they decided to get married. :) This picture was actually taken at their house last week when I went over to help my mom with something. They are the weeds that have since been mowed... but I think weeds can be pretty sometimes.

Jazz Town

Tonight a group of us got together and went to Salt Lake to go to the Jazz Game. They played against the Pheonix Suns and this game was a big deal because depending on who won determined which team went to the play offs. Vicki and Tina went too, but they had lower bowl seats, so sadly we didn't get to see them. Vicki was cheering for the Suns (since she is from AZ) and Tina was cheering for the Jazz. We text each other at the game.

Tara and I were so excited for the game. We wanted to go all out so we made signs the night before. Tara also let me borrow one of her Jazz Jersey's and Sara brought some Jazz Tattoo's. We were set!

Not only was it a great game, but it was also an entertaining night. Here is a little summary of the night. We drove in two cars. Half of us went with Jay (me, Jay, Sara and Tara) and the other half went with Wes (Wes, Megan, Oliver and Joel). Oliver and Joel stared at us out the back window like creepers for half of the drive or more. No joke. It was funny and I think they creeped out some other people as well. Wes then had us park forever away so we walked a mile to get to the game.

Joel put one of the Jazz tattoo's on his neck. We were talking about how creepy that was and how white trash women get tattoo's there. A minute after that comment a woman on a bike went by with a tattoo on her neck.

We then were going through security. Joel was wearing a candy belt under his shirt and the beeper went off. When he was told to lift up his shirt so they could check he lifted the candy belt up with his shirt and got in.

They also checked our signs that we made to make sure they were appropriate. On the back of our "Town" sign it said "You Suck". They wouldn't let us bring it in. Thankfully Tara had brought the marker and we convinced him to let us still take it in if we blacked it out. It took us a while to get it black enough that they would let us take it in. Thank goodness, or else our signs wouldn't have made sense.

Next, we found our seats. Section 125 on row 12. In that HUGE Energy Solutions Center of THOUSANDS of people... I go to take my seat and I recognize the people next to me. It is Pete Paulous and his wife and one of his brothers was there too. I know Pete from Dinkey Creek and I had not seen him in YEARS! I tend to run into him in the most random places (Mona Pond, MTC/ TRC) we caught up on each other's families and it turns out that Joel knew him as well. When we left we told each other that we would see each other in another couple years in another random place. What are the chances? It was awesome.

Oliver is ADHD and feels like he can't just sit there and watch a fun game, so he read a book on his phone.

Wes was cheering for the Suns (we are still not sure why because he is not from there). PS I made that sign. I was proud of it when I was done.

We tried really hard to make it on the big screen with our signs we worked so hard on... but we didn't, until after the game was over and everyone was leaving.

And then we won! Jazz - 100 Suns - 88. Which means the Jazz are going to the Play Offs! Go Jazz!

This is me and Jay's excited that they won face.

Yep... that sums up the night. It was a lot of fun. So glad Tara and I decided to get a group together. Here are some other pictures from the night.

All of us girls (the only ones that got decked out)! I was the only one without glasses so Oliver let me borrow his for the picture. ha ha.

The Whole Group.

Saturday Softball

Played softball for hours on Saturday after the BBQ. It was so fun. It was so nice just to be outside enjoying the weather for hours. This is of course inside joke... so if you were not there it probably isn't funny, but I drew a little picture of the experience today and Tara added a few things to the picture. I hope there is a lot more softball playing in the future.  It's a good time.
