Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?

Remember when I went to the Shania Twain Concert? Well, since we decided to dress classy country, we did a little photo shoot before the concert. We all wore country/ cowboy boots (Hence the title of the post and it is also one of Shania's songs).

Here are some of the individuals.... first we have Ivette!

Then Alethea

And me!

Zion's

Last weekend I went south with a group of friends. Friday a few of us went down early and hiked around Bryce Canyon... which I was so happy about since I had never been there before. Loved it.

That night we headed to the cabin, where everyone else later met up with us. We played games and magic tricks and I made Darrell roast me a marshmallow over the fireplace (which was too hot so he did it outside the glass) so that I could make a S'more.

Then after lots of chatting, everyone found a room to sleep in and went to bed. Where did I sleep? Oh...  in the master bedroom with Melodie and Melinda. Did I mention that the 3 of us slept all together in a queen size bed. Not the most comfortable thing in the world, but better than sleeping on the ground for sure. :)

The next morning we woke up to giggling. Turns out the pipes froze over night. I guess it was colder than we thought. So we grabbed some breakfast and off we went to Zion's. I only got to be with the group until 11:30 and then I had to drive to Vegas to meet up with Lolly for the concert... so I missed the hike to Angles Landing. One day I will have to go back I guess. However, the hike I did with everyone was still pretty and fun.

The hike was not too long and went to a look out point. The trail was fun and went under cliffs and such.

When we got there, we got our only picture of our entire group on the trip. I brought my tri-pod just for this purpose. I think they turned out nice.

Zion's was beautiful. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will have to go back another time and explore more. Thanks Melodie for organizing the trip, the hook up to the free cabin AND for inviting me. :)

Flashback Friday 110

Back in April of 2002, for a relief society activity, we all drove down to Hollywood in a big van and went to "The Price is Right". How awesome is that? Many summer's growing up, my siblings and I would turn on the tv at 10am to watch that show and now I was going to be in the audience. For some reason though I didn't want to be picked to be on the show. We had all mad shirts for the show, as people typically do. Mine said "pick my friends" and had arrows pointing to each side of me. Sadly, no one from our group ended up being picked, but it was still a fun experience to go on the show. It's a classic!

I had no idea what went into filming a show like this. I had no idea it would take longer than an hour to film a one hour show (with many commercials) and that they did more than one taping in a day.... and that we would have to stand in line all day to fill out paperwork and to make sure we were old enough and to be interviewed (turns out people are not picked at random) and so on and so forth. I thought the studio would be bigger. I didn't realize that Bob Barker would talk so much... about himself and that he would stop filming when he got a paper-cut. ha ha. So many things you don't think about when you are watching the show on tv. It was a fun experience though. After we were done, we all went out to dinner. It was a fun day.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 163

I have been busy busy busy!

Last weekend was jam packed. It started getting cold and started to snow on Friday, and I drove away from it to Bryce Canyon. Stayed at a cabin with some friends.... (which I will post more about later) and then the next morning hiked in Zion's and then left the group, went down to Vegas and hung out with Lolly, Alethea and Ivette. Went to the Shania Twain concert drove back to Provo.

As soon as I got back to Provo, I went straight to a goodbye party. It was for someone I was really sad to say goodbye to. My good friend and former roommate, Allyson. She moved to Texas! I told her I would come visit her. I miss her already. She is one of my favorite people to see and hang out with. We always have a good time.

This week at work has been busy because of quarter end. Well... not that it was a super busy quarter end, because it really wasn't. However, I have been so behind in so many other things at work for so long I decided to catch up on everything before my trip this next week. So I have been working hard on that, and I ALMOST have it all done. I like leaving with a clear desk instead of piles of paperwork everywhere.

I went to Zumba today hoping for my new favorite instructor, Marcus... but instead it was a new girl. This was a girl I recognized though... my friend Karianne that used to be in my ward. I missed Marcus, but it was fun to see my friend. Plus, I had never been to her zumba class before. Good times.

Tuesday was our first Tuesday without hip hop class. It was kind of sad, so Sarah and I went to Target instead. I needed another bathing suit for my trip. Sometimes I forget how cute Target's stuff is because I am so used to shopping at WalMart because it is closer. Cute outdoor furniture by the way... I may need to go back. For the record, I found a cute new swim suit. :)

I just love how friendly people are at my work. I know I have talked about this before, but I just keep having more situations where I really appreciate how nice people are. Today I was getting lunch at the cafe after going to zumba. My face is always super red after zumba and the lady behind me (who I recognize from seeing at the gym but had never talked to her) started chatting with me how she gets red after exercising too... then we talked about running and I told her how I had signed up for a half marathon and was nervous about it. Then she started giving me tips and then told me to send her an email... which I did and she sent me a schedule for training and offered to run with me at lunch if I ever wanted her too. How sweet is that? I just love nice people.

Tonight there was a party next door for my friend Jennica who is in town. It was so great to see her and to see everyone else that came back to see her. It is always good to see old friends. I appreciate all of the friends that I have in my life. Brings lots of joy in my life.

So I have had a busy weekend last weekend, a busy week and a busy weekend ahead.  When things are really busy and time crunched right before I am supposed to leave for a trip... I think about it a lot and get a little stressed. I hate packing. I always leave it for the VERY last minute. I'm up late the night before. I am always thinking about what to bring and not over packing and all that jazz. Hopefully Saturday all goes smoothly with everything that I need to go to and get done before I leave. Doesn't help take away the stress when my friend that I am going on the trip with and I have not discussed our airport arrangements on Saturday. It will all work out. I will stop thinking about it. Oh travels. Fun times.

Photo of the Week 161

Loved Bryce Canyon National Park. So beautiful there. It was especially beautiful this time of year because there was a little bit of snow left, which is great contrast in the pictures.

Bryce Canyon

My BFF Neighbor's sister has connections to a cabin near Bryce Canyon and Zion's National Parks, so she invited a bunch of friends to come along. I already had plans that weekend to go to Vegas and to the Shania Twain concert, but I didn't want to miss out on any fun... so I decided to do both.

Because I had to leave the group early and miss out on some of the fun, I wanted to go down early and Melodie, Melinda and Darrell all decided to go with me. I just went into work for a couple of hours that morning and then we were off. I was so excited since I had never been to Bryce Canyon before. It was beautiful... especially since it still had a little bit of snow still. It was good hiking weather, but when the wind blew it was cold. So worth it though.

Since Darrell and I both love taking pictures, we both brought our fancy camera's. Here are some of the best pictures from our adventure to Bryce Canyon.

Pinewood Derby

A couple of weeks ago it was announced that our ward was going to have a pinewood derby. So each FHE group was given 2 cars to carve and design the way they wanted.

Our group got together to discuss... and this is what we came up with...

Yeah... they both lost. However, how cool is our Gangnam Style car? With flames (a must for Sarah) and it was etched by laser. Cool huh? What is even more cool is that they played the Gangnam style song as our car raced down the track. Would have been more cool if our car won. Oh well.

It was fun. Everyone got super competitive and into the race. Pinewood Derby's just bring this out of people I think. Each car raced several times.

Winners got these prizes. We may not have won any of the races... but we got prizes for other things, like how awesome our car looked. ha ha.

A few of us in my group decided to dress up like scouts... cause we are awesome like that. Thankfully I had my brother's shirt to borrow and my dad's sash full of badges to wear. Fun activity.

Shania Twain

This weekend has been busy and filled with fun. There were many events that took place, but one of those events was driving down to Vegas to meet up with Lolly and her two best friends that she grew up with (Ivette and Alethea) and go see Shania Twain in concert on Saturday night.

*I took this picture at the very end of the show. The grand finale*

We had so much fun. We dressed up for the show. Dressy but country. We of course did a little photoshoot. As soon as I go through all of the pictures, I will post them.  Then we were off to the concert.

It was such a fun concert. All of us were dancing and singing a long the whole time. It was very fun with backup dancers and fun band with an awesome string section. She had fun scene changes and backdrops. She even entered the stage on a motorcycle in the air and a couple of times I was surprised when she came on stage riding a horse. In fact she did that twice on two different horses. After the second time I turned to Ivette and asked how many horses she thought she had backstage.

Before I got to Vegas... Lolly, Ivette and Alethea had this plan to get me on stage to sing with Shania, but that was a fail. We were way too far back. Oh well. After the concert, we went to Serendipity for some food and frozen hot chocolate. SO GOOD!!!

After that we went back to the theater to try and get some pictures in front of the sign since it is so crazy right after the concert. I tried to pose like Shania... for some reason, it didn't quite turn out the same.

Shania has been MIA for many years... so it was fun that she came back and that we got to go to her concert. She is great. I had a blast in Vegas with these lovely ladies. I wish I had more time with them. Hopefully we will plan another get together soon!
