FabFitFun

So there is a new trend... or maybe it's not new and I am just discovering it... where you sign up to get a box of surprises in the mail every month. At first the concept of this to me was weird. I mean... what if I don't like the stuff. I'm picky about stuff I buy and I want to pick out my own stuff. However, I decided to give it a try.

There are several different ones out there, but I signed up for FabFitFun. Every month you get a new box of new items/products that have to do with beauty, fitness, health and the latest trends. I also signed up for an outdoors surprise box... that one hasn't come yet, so I will blog about that one when I get it. However, my first FabFitFun box came. I was pleasantly surprised how awesome it was and how much stuff came in the box. I'm paying $25 a month (until I cancel) and this box had over $200 worth of stuff in it.

I think what sold me on the surprise box idea is not only does it feel like Christmas (you don't know what is in the box until you open it) but it gives you a sample of a lot of different great products of stuff that you didn't even know was out there. If you don't fall in love with the product, you use it until it's gone... but if you do, well then you have discovered a new product that you love and you get more. It's really smart actually.

In this box I got a cute scarf, a coffee (or hot chocolate) cup, aging cream, a nude eyeshadow pallet (the last one I bought I use ALL the time and paid almost $50 for.  It also came with these cool toe socks that the bottom of them grab to the floor so you don't slip around while doing yoga or pilates... which I did all the time. Wish I would have had these when I was doing pilates regularly. I also love that this box came with coloring pencils and an adult coloring book. All I can say is... I'm excited to get my next box! What a cool idea. I also can't wait what camping and outdoor gear I get in my other box I subscribed to. It's like Christmas every month!

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 343

Fall is in full swing and I love it. I always hate to see summer go because there are so many things I love about summer. I'm already missing the longer days, but I do love fall and that it cools down a little bit and I'm in LOVE with the colors. I always just dread Winter. Although I have already booked my yurt for this Winter. I've learned my lesson from last year to book early so I have a choice to go on a weekend instead of waiting too long and having to go on a week day.

Picking up where I left off... Friday night after my work out with Josh, I spent the evening hanging out with the family since Lori and her family were leaving the next morning. Just a chill evening at the parents house. It was nice. Love my family.

Saturday I didn't do much all day except for clean and do errands, I wasn't feeling great and we will just leave it at that. That night I hung out with my old roommies Allison and MacKenzie at MacKenzie's new place. Daniel joined as well. We did our traditional run to Brassas and Sodalicious and then watched Blacklist... which we all love. After the show was over, Daniel went home and the girls just sat around and chatted and caught up on life.

Sunday was a typical Sunday. Dinner with the family. Except for after... I met this guy I had been talking to online. He came over and we just chatted for a while before he went home and I went to bed... but he had an interesting story. I asked him where he was from, he told me he grew up in Jordan. I quickly perked up since my next trip I am planning is to that area. of the world. So I had lots of questions for him since everyone doesn't want me to go to the middle east because they think I am going to get kidnapped and or die. I feel even better about going after talking to him. Anyway... I really enjoy meeting new people from everywhere... learning their stories and what they are about. Everyone is so unique with different life stories, but we are all so similar in so many ways.

Monday after working all day and getting my butt kicked at the gym by Josh (leg day) I went straight to my parents house because I had bought a couple more crates from Home Depot so I needed to sand and stain them. I loved my first one so much that I decided I needed to buy a couple more before Home Depot ran out of them. Which they do. They don't always keep those crates in stock. I'm glad I did... there were not many left, and I feel like even if I don't know exactly what I am going to use them for now, they are so great to have because they can be used for so many different things. Just love the look of them. However, my plans for one of them is to come with my on road trips where I sleep in my car. I'm trying to perfect my SUV to Camper setup. I'm really excited about it actually. The crate will be my kitchen. It will keep hold my kitchen dishes I need and my Jetboil and any food or condiments that don't need to be kept in the cooler. Then it will also turn into my kitchen table from when we need to eat  in the car or need a surface to cook on. That was missing on the last trip. It will be perfect.

After working all day and then having a hard gym work out with a personal trainer, by the time I get home... there isn't a lot that I want to do... even though I have a pile of projects I want to get off my plate, plus cleaning. I need to finish my Puerto Rico video. I need to make a book of my Brazil trip last year. I should probably put a book together for my Puerto Rico trip as well. I also need to start my Havasupai video which my friends on that trip have been asking me about. They ask me how far along on the video I am.... ummm.... I haven't started. Sorry. At the same time, it is something I do for me therefore I can do it on my own time. Everyone else just happens to benefit from it. If they wanted to spend hours putting a video together, they could do it. ha ha. I will do it though. On top of those projects, I need to transfer my cassette tapes to digital and store them on my computer and I have the last of my VHS tapes that I need to transfer to DVD and my parents even let me borrow their converter which is sitting on my floor in my living room. I haven't even hooked it up to the tv yet. Go me! I would feel so much better having all these projects off my plate... but I just can't muster up the motivation to actually do them. I want to be outside or I just want to go to bed. I don't even want to make dinner when I get home. Sometimes I don't and I just have a yogurt (Don't tell my trainer). I'm never hungry anyway. So... is what it is. I will get there. Maybe when I'm done with my trainer I will feel differently.

Tuesday however... after the gym I did get the motivation to clean. So I cleaned the bathroom and did laundry and vacuumed... cleaning makes me feel good. And happy... when it's done. I don't love doing it, but I love when things are clean. Hence why it is such a struggle for me to have roommates. After my cleaning mode, I hung out with that guy Matt again that I met that is in the army. 3rd time hanging out. That has to be some sort of record for me for guys that I meet online. Ha! He is still too young and not for me. I'll take him as a friend though. He's pretty chill. He seems to kind of like me though.

Last night and tonight? Remember that whole speech I gave about not wanting to do anything when I get home after work and the gym? Yeah... that is how I have spent last night and tonight. What can I say... maybe I will be more motivated next week.

Photo of the Week 341

Bridal Veil Falls in Autumn is quite beautiful. I keep driving up the canyon to soak in all of the colors while they last. They are incredible!

Quote

One day Facebook was generating quotes and putting it with your Facebook profile pic. The quote was suppose to be generated based off of your profile. I was curious what it would pull for me since I am not that active on Facebook. I thought it was actually a pretty good quote for me. Well done Facebook.

Picnic in the Mountains

A week ago, Hillary and I decided to go enjoy the beginning of fall up in the mountains and packed a little picnic. It wasn't a full on meal or anything.. just little snacks while we talked and laughed and soaked in the sun and the beauty of the fall mountains. I know I complain about summer ending... and I really do hate it when summer ends, but I do REALLY love fall. I just wish it lasted long because I REALLY don't like Winter. Oh well. Embrace the fall while it is happening. That is what I am trying to do. We found a pretty and quite little spot where nobody else was around. It was perfect.

Hillary and I always have a good time together. So it doesn't matter what we do, it will be fun. However, I enjoyed this activity and am hoping it happens again before it gets too cold.

Lori and William's Birthday Party

I don't have many pictures, but I just wanted to show the crazy fun little family party we had for Lori and William while they were in town. SO FUN to be able to celebrate their birthday this year. What a treat.

We had cake. Funfetti of course. It had ice cream in it. So good.

There was a piƱata for the kids to hit. And we even had a family dance party. I think that is a Mills first. Almost everyone danced. Dad might have been the only one that didn't.

It was a fun family party and I'm glad I got to be there. Wish I would have gotten a picture of Lori and William together... but like I said, my picture taking was a bit after the fact. Happy Birthday Lori and William. Love you both!

Dark for Fall

Got my hair done. Nicole wanted my hair darker for fall. It looks like a solid color... but it actually does get lighter at the end. I wanted something darker and warm... I got it. It was weird for me to get used to at first because I feel like I have been light for a while, but I like it. Always do. Nicole always does a great job.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 342

Happy Birthday to my sister Lori! And my nephew William. For once, I get to spend their birthday with them because they are in town. Guess what Lori wanted to do for her birthday? She wanted to come work out with me and my personal trainer. On my least favorite work out day... Cardio Circuit. Yep! I mean, I know she is super fit and loves to work out... but that IS NOT what I would want to be doing for my birthday.

After the work out, we had a party for Lori and William at my parents house. Fun little family party. I will blog about that later. I didn't get too many pictures because I wasn't thinking about it until after the fact... but I got some.

Let's backtrack to last weekend though. You know... where I left off last.

Saturday I went on a hike with Daniel, which I already blogged about... but what I didn't blog about is that we also went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings and then we went to the movies in the comfy recliner chairs. We saw Sully... which I didn't know much about... based on a true story. It was great. Tom Hanks always does a good job.

After my day with Daniel, I hung out with Hillary. We ate at CHOM and then still wanted to hang out so we sat at Rita's. We were just chatting and minding our own business when a guy comes in and sits at the kid table next to us and then starts making conversation. He said he was waiting for someone. I asked if it was a Tinder date. He said yes. I was so excited to see someone else's Tinder date in action. Before the girl got there, he came to sit with us at our table. We could tell something was up with him. He told us he was high on sleeping pills. Now I was even MORE excited to see this Tinder date in action. This guy was pretty weird, so we couldn't imagine what girl would meet up with him at 11pm. When she showed up, Hillary and I were both surprised how cute and normal she was. We saw them buy their stuff and then take off. Maybe 15 minutes later he came back in a sat with us and told us how she felt uncomfortable and took off. SHOCKER! He said, she thought I was going to rape her or something. We said... no, I'm sure she felt uncomfortable because you are high on sleeping pills and acting weird and saying weird things and not remembering what you say minutes after you say it.  He started going off about this and that and then started crying and we told him he should probably go sleep it off. We were laughing about this guy for days. Later Hillary and I both ran across him on Tinder. We both swiped left.

Sunday before heading to my parents house, Hillary and I met at the bottom of Provo Canyon and we went to have a picnic in the mountains and enjoy fall. It was a lovely day and found a spot that not many people were at... until golden hour... then everyone showed up to take family pictures. We always have a great time when we are together though. I will blog more about that later. I hope it happens again before it gets too cold.

Monday after work and my work out with Josh, I went to my good friend Nicole to get my hair done. I went DARKER. I have had lighter hair for so long now that it was kind of a shocker to go so much darker... which I used to do all of the time. I will get used to it, and it was time for a change and only appropriate to go dark for fall, but yeah... I will have to post a picture.

Tuesday after work and my workout I went over to Hillary's house to watch Zootopia with her and her kids. I hadn't seen it yet and they had it so the kids were excited for me to come over and watch it with them. They are cute, and a lot of fun.

Then that leaves yesterday. Yesterday after work and my work out with Josh, I hung out at Hillary's house again and then found out Lori and Billy were back from Hawaii, so I went over there and they wanted me to bring the movie Hook because Lori's kids are super into Peter Pan. So I did and hung out with them the rest of the night. Sure is fun to have them in town. I don't get to see them or their kids very often so it has been nice.

So I guess that is it! Another week gone!

Scout Falls

Saturday Daniel and I had some one on one time and went to hike to Scout Falls together. We both wanted to get outside and do a hike and had both never done this hike before.

It had some pretty views during the 4 miles round trip. Fall is definitely in full swing. I enjoyed the views more than I enjoyed the falls. Probably because the fall's have died up to more of a trickle. See?

Great view of the mountains though. Loved being out and having some long overdue one on one time with Daniel. He has really become a dear friend over the years. I will have to try this hike again maybe in the spring or early summer when there is more of a waterfall. Even still, it was a beautiful day to be outside and enjoying the mountains.

CHOM

Hillary and I wanted to hang out yesterday so she suggested going to the new burger place in Provo across from Sodalicious. I always love trying new places AND I love hanging out with Hillary, so I was down.

It was pretty good. I went the healthier route and got my burger wrapped in lettuce, but still. I like when a burger place has healthier options. You can get salad there as well or get gluten free buns and such. Anyway... it is just another burger joint, but we liked it. I would would choose it over other burger places, but I wouldn't say it is my favorite place ever. I would go back again though.

RIP Luna

I was so sad to come home and find my Beta, Luna dead in the bowl. I didn't see any signs that anything was wrong. Didn't even last an entire year and my cousin Dave even bought it from a Beta Breeder in Utah. Purple Rain came from Walmart. That just goes to show you... it's all luck. I loved them and took care of them the same. I'm sad Luna didn't last longer. He was so pretty. I sent a picture to Dave with Luna in the toilet and we had another fish funeral via text. Glad I have someone to have fish funeral's with.

Time to get another Beta or give it a break? I like having one, but maybe I will wait a month or so. We shall see. Until then... Rest In Peace Luna. You were a good fish.

Pink Clouds

The other day I looked outside and had to grab my phone and take some pictures. Look at these clouds! I didn't use a filter, I didn't even alter the color at all. The clouds were really that pink. It was beautiful.

I know, I know... I'm crazy for sunsets. People laugh at me because I care about them so much and hate missing them. It's true. Deal with it.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 341

Weekend started with a workout after work of course... but after that, I had a date with a guy that I had been talking to online for a while. I thought his name was Ian... but it's actually pronounced Eye-N... yep. I think that is the first person I have ever met that pronounces his name that way. Despite that... he was a sweetheart. He knew I was dieting, so he brought veggies to cook for me in my house. We had great conversation and he told me I looked even better in person than my pictures. That is something I like to hear. And although we had a great night... he lives in Ogden and I will probably never see him again, because.... that is how online dating is. They meet you and then move on to the next girl they can get excited about. Your excitement is now gone... they have met you, the mystery is over. But hey... maybe this guy will surprise me.

Saturday I blogged about already. It was Grant's baptism and I spent the afternoon hanging out with the family at my parents house. Then that late afternoon/ evening I hiked with Lacy to Brighton Lakes.

Sunday was the usual. Hung out with the family. Always a good time. After leaving my parents house this guy I have hung out with before wanted me to come hang out with him again... at Camp Williams. I felt a little weird about that, but I went with it. Showed up, showed my ID and said I was picking up a package from Sargent Powell... but really Sargent Powell and I were just going to hang out and chat... probably because he is working the night shift and has to stay there and is bored. I was curious... So I went. I have now seen Camp Williams at night. Not what I expected.

Monday Lori and family got to town. So after work, leaving a little early so that I could go work out with Josh an hour early so that I could leave to drive up to Salt Lake to get my lashes filled by Ali one last time before she has her baby.... after getting my lashes filled I drove back to my parents house to hang out with Lori and Billy and Leila (which was the only child still awake by the time I got there) for a couple hours before all of us needing to go to bed.

Tuesday was another busy day. From work, to the personal trainer, to Brick Oven (not to eat but just to hang out) for my friend Lindsay's birthday celebration and then later that night I hung out with Tyler... who I have hung out with several times, but he in very inconsistent and I never know when I will see him or hear from him. We enjoy each other when he does come around though. Always interesting and deep conversation, mostly me acting as therapist. I go into that roll a lot for some reason.

Wednesday after work and the gym... I ate dinner and watched the sunset... which is happening earlier and earlier everyday and I don't like it. After the sunset Stacey came and picked me up to take me out for a treat. He wanted to show me one of his favorite places for a treat that is also healthy... since he knows I'm eating healthy. Bowl of Heaven. It's Acai bowls! Yum! I loved it and will for sure be going back... guilt free. But of course it was just nice to spend some quality time with Stacey. We always have the best time.

After I got home from that, my neighbor, Josh, had run into me that morning as we were both running off to work. He said he hadn't seen me in a while and we should hang out and he had the night off. So when I got back from Bowl of Heaven with Stacey, I called Josh and he told me to come over because he had rented Legend and I should watch it with him. I had never seen Legend. I didn't know what it was or how old it was or who was in it. Turns out it was one of Tom Cruises earlier movies in the 80's and it is..... interesting. We ended up fast forwarding through a lot because it was so long... and so weird. It made for a good laugh though. Good times with my neighbor Josh.

I guess that leaves me with today. Work... gym (my life is so exciting) and then I had a date with this guy Mark. All I will say was.... it was a very short date and the least exciting of all 5 of my dates this past week. I can count my outing with Stacey a date right? He paid so... I'm counting it. Anyway... eventful week. I need some sleep.

Grand Teton

The last part of my holiday weekend trip with Hillary. Grand Teton! We were actually in Grand Teton before Yellowstone. Well... I guess we were there before and after because we loved it so much... so I am just saving the best for last. They had some fires recently... so we could see that... but hopefully the rain we got while we were there helped!

First we walked around Jenny Lake. I LOVE Jenny Lake.

Of course we also had to hammock at Jenny Lake.

One of my favorite things was waking up and breakfast to this view.

We had a blast exploring and driving around the National Park. Grand Teton, I hope to see you again. Soon.
