I'm in the Midwest! I'm excited for the break from people that frustrate me and mostly a break from work. Any break from work makes me happy.
Things are always busy leading up to a trip. I mean... I always leave packing until the last minute, and I'm a light packer anyway. I had my eyelash / massage trade was Monday. I was asked to teach a class on planting and caring for succulents for the relief society on Tuesday. 20 something people signed up for the class and then 6 showed up. Try not to take that stuff personally. ha ha. Wednesday I worked and then went right to the airport to fly to the Midwest!
It's amazing that I'm in 3 states in one day. Fly in to Chicago Illinois, drive to Indiana and spend the day playing at the lake in Michigan. I was excited to get away, but mostly I was excited to hang out with my cousin Trav. He is so fun. No matter what we are doing... it's fun. I was also excited to see a couple of friends while I was there. My flight into Chicago got in late... so my friend Rick picked me up from the airport. We walked around the town a little bit and then I stayed at his place. I ALSO got to see my very good friend Monica who is now living in South Bend Indiana. Monica and I go way back to 2004. One of my first friends in Utah and we are still good friends. We can not talk for months or see each other for years... and we just pick up right where we left off. That is a good friend.
Oh, I finally finished Heartland. 8 seasons! Whew! I even watched the last 2 seasons on a sketchy website to watch it until the end since they were not on Netflix. I thought after the 8th season it would end, but I read that they are signed up for a 9th season! Canadians love Heartland. We will see if I stay caught up on it. After Heartland I moved on to Nashville. Just started... but I already love it. I am a sucker for drama. And here is a weird thing, I don't love country music, but I am digging all the music.
I already blogged about getting ditched over the weekend and the last minute hiking in Utah's beautiful mountains... so I guess that is all. Time to party in the Midwest with my awesome cousin Travis. Have I mentioned how much I love my family? I seriously have the best family.
Peace out.

Mr. Cuzco
When John and I were in Peru, we made Cuzco our home base. I only had 2 weeks to do everything that we wanted to do and John was on a budget because he was traveling for 5 months. There are TONS of tourist shops that will try and sell you tours. We finally decided to go into one of those shops and see if they could help us out with tours that fit both of our needs. My time line and John's pricing. The shop we went in to helped us out a lot. So much that we booked all of our tours for the rest of my trip there. I had no idea they could book stuff for you in other cities... he did. It was great. The guy that helped us out was very nice. Would go back and forth from speaking English and Spanish. I understood 90% of what he said. He was middle aged. Pretty sure that he was married and had some kids. He would make little jokes to me and John.... but kept it professional. Never thought much about it. We even had a mix up with the bus that we booked once and he came to the bus station to check up on us and make sure everything worked out. Super nice guy.
On our last visit to his shop to book our last tour knowing we would not be coming back to Cuzco, he had added us both on Facebook and was saying our goodbyes... asking us to give him a good review. This is when he started to get a little flirty. While John was busy he was making small talk with me and kissing me on the cheek to say goodbye. This is normal in most Latin cultures so I still didn't think much of it. We left and the next couple of days he started sending me messages on Facebook saying hi and asking how I was doing. Then I went back home to Utah and he would talk to me every time he saw me online on Facebook. This is when he started getting more flirty and telling me how beautiful I was and commenting on all of my pictures (embarrassing) but I would just ignore it hoping that if I didn't respond to it he would stop.
We started talking less and less... mostly because I started to ignore him. A little more than a year later you would think he would forget about me... but he finds me online again and we have this conversation.
I always attract the older tour guides in the foreign countries I travel to. If only I could attract the guy my age that live near by....
