Lagoon

For the first time ever (since I have been working at Novell/Micro Focus) we had a paid for Lagoon day that we didn't have to take time off for. So for the first time ever, I went to Lagoon. Ha ha. I know I know... I have lived in Utah for how long and never been to Lagoon? True story. I just never cared enough. Plus... I'm not a roller coaster person. So why spend the money to go? Plus, most friends that invited me in the past, when I told them I didn't like roller coasters they took back their invitation. I wasn't offended. Never really had a desire to go anyway.

I got 2 tickets when we were supposed to sign up for tickets. I didn't have anyone to take, but I got tickets anyway... just in case. I didn't have a date to take, I don't have a family and I don't have a lot of friends anymore. All the friends I do have all have to work on Thursday, so it wasn't looking like I was going to go. However, then I talked to Lacy at the gym... every time I go down to work out, I chat with her. She was invited to participate in Lagoon day. She was planning on going and taking one of her friends and then her husband would most likely join when he got off of work. She told me I could join her and her friend. I agreed and planned to go and try and find a friend to come. I didn't try very hard. Her friend ended up not being able to go. The night before she text me and asked me if I still wanted to go. I said I was fine going or not going... we could even go on a hike instead of Lagoon and I would be fine. Anyway.... she grew up going a lot so we decided to just go and hang out at Lagoon A Beach and hang out and get the free dinner on the company and then when her husband came, I would just go home.

So we did that. We went and got their in the afternoon. We hung out in the water park and just lay there and chatted for hours. When her husband got there, we over to get the free dinner (which was NOT very good) and I was surprised how many people I saw from work that I knew. Nobody from my team. I don't think a lot of people from my team went. I didn't really want to be a third wheel with Lacy and her husband that I didn't really know... I mean, I had met him once, but that was it. However, after we finished dinner... Lacy told me that I had to try at least a few roller coasters that she thought I would handle (aka ones that didn't go upside down) ha ha. So I said ok. Turns out her husband was really cool too and I didn't really feel like a 3rd wheel. So we all ended up hanging out the rest of the night. Lacy and I went on one roller coaster while her hubby played Basket Ball games which he was most looking forward to because he doesn't really like roller coasters either. ha ha. They were telling me that they have these singing/dancing shows that are really funny/terrible, so we decided to go to one. Oh... it was bad. I laughed when nobody else was laughing. I couldn't tell if they were being serious or not. Anyway... my favorite moment of the day was during that show, I saw my friend and co-worker Dave sitting at that show. We made eye contact at the same time and kind of nodded at each other to say hey... but then quickly realized we were both really embarrassed to be running into each other at that show and were covering our heads. We weren't close enough to say anything to each other... but our facial expressions said it all. I was laughing so hard after that and so was he. His wife turned to him and asked him what was so funny. Afterwords I went to say hi and how hard that made me laugh and he said they went because they thought it was a kid show... we didn't even have that excuse.

Anyway, I wasn't overly excited for Lagoon. Lacy and her husband made it really fun though. It was fun to run into random co-workers all day and it was fun to not be at work. Nice little break. Thanks Micro Focus for the Lagoon day and thank you Lacy for going with me so that I actually went. Otherwise I wouldn't have gone.

Rooftop Concert - Take 3

After the Salmon Supper last night, my friend Lindsay told me she was going to the rooftop concert in downtown Provo. I know they happen every first Friday of the month of summer... but I never keep track of who is playing and for the most part don't go to them. Well, I have been going like once a summer. That is good enough right? I mean, don't get me wrong, they are awesome because they are free, but I just would rather camp or go on road trips if that is an option.

Anyway... guess who was playing yesterday and I didn't even know. THE AQUABATS!! I didn't even know they still performed. Apparently they do! Ha ha. Lindsay and I both loved them in high school, so it was a trip down memory lane for us. We were loving that show and singing a long. The others that came with us... not so much, but it's free... why not go. ha ha. They have a few new songs that I didn't know, but for the most part, I knew all the songs from listening to them ... well.... when I was in high school. It was a typical Aquabats concert with blow up balls and toys that they throw around the audience. Last time I saw the Aquabats live was when they played at my dad's club (The Living Room) back in California. Good times.

We didn't stay super long. Only came to hear them, came late and left when they were done, so we were there for like an hour. It was perfect. A really fun night with the friends.

Salmon Supper - Take 4

Tonight was the night of the Annual Payson Salmon Supper. Can you believe that this was my 4th year going? I can believe it. The salmon is THAT good. I have blogged about it before, so there is nothing really new to say about it than I did last year...

I will just say that the food was just as great and the line went by super fast (even though I was further back in line than I have ever been) because I had a blast talking to my friend (the one that lives 2 doors down that I was in the fashion show for), Josh. We just have a great time talking and laughing together. Even though he lives 2 doors down, I don't see him very often. So when we do run into each other leaving or coming home at the same time... we get excited and have a quick catch up. Anyway... we stayed very entertained chatting in line and we had our food in no time. Another great year at the Salmon Supper. If I am in town, I'm sure I will go again next year.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 335

Starting where I left off....

I survived another quarter end. Actually... this one wasn't bad at all, but we still have to stick around just in case... which stinks. Seems like such a waste of time. That and they fatten us up. I hate that part of quarter end. I always feel so gross after. It's like... whatever weight I might have lost in Havasupai... I'm positive I gained it back during quarter end.

I was super bummed because my family and my Uncle Dale & Aunt Teresa and cousin Lauren and her family invited me to hang out/ camp up Payson canyon on Friday... but with quarter end, I knew that I wouldn't really get to. Thankfully they let us off early enough that I hurried up the canyon and got to see everyone for like an hour before everyone left or went to sleep. Except for my uncle Dale and aunt Teresa... we had a heart to heart and ended up talking until midnight. I really love them and love the conversations that we have. They are so loving and so fun to talk to. So I was glad I went up.

I didn't end up doing much the next day. I still was trying to get back into things since getting home from Havasupai. It was so busy going straight back to work and into quarter end when I got back that it took me longer than usual to unpack and put things away and do laundry and go food shopping and everything that I needed to do, so I just did that on Saturday. Boring, I know. I didn't even exercise because my feet and leg are still recovering. I did go on another exciting Tinder date though. I mean... it wasn't all that exciting, we just hung out and got a shake and we didn't connect in person as much as we did over text. Sometimes that happens. I would go out with him again... but I could tell that he wasn't that into it, so I'm pretty sure I will never hear from him again. It's fine... I'm pretty numb to dating these days. I rarely get excited even when I see potential. How sad is that? It's amazing that I even still try and go out and meet new guys when I feel this way. Oh well. I look forward to the day I get excited over a guy again. It's been a long time.

Sunday was a typical Sunday where I enjoyed spending time with the family. My dad has been putting in a new floor and they have a new dining room. The more they get done with the house, the more people it will accommodate which will be fun. I think changing things up and doing new things with the house is very exciting. Makes me wish I had my own place and could do that kind of stuff... but I would have to stop traveling in order to afford that... and I just don't think that is worth it to me. ha ha.

Monday, my manager volunteered me to take a co-worker that is in town out to dinner. I don't know why I get volunteered to entertain strangers since I don't talk to hardly anyone at work and have made it known to her that I don't like very many people there. She still is convinced that I am one of the more fun people here. Ha! Flattering I guess. With Leo I was fine with it and even excited because he was was single and cute... but this lady, I don't know... I just wasn't in the mood to try and be friendly with someone in town for a couple of days. I said I would though. Thankfully my co-worker, Joe (one of the few people that I actually on my new team) volunteered to come with us to dinner. I was thankful for this, he is good with getting to know new people. Everyone likes Joe. It put less pressure on me and I felt less awkward trying to make an effort. Thank you Joe! Funny that all of my favorite people at work... all of my closest work friends are married men. What does that say about me?

Tuesday after work I hung out with another guy I met online. It was ok. He was kind of weird. We will never talk again. I'm fine with that.

Wednesday I went over to my parents house to use their wood stain to stain a crate that I had recently bought at Home Depot. You can always use a crate right? That is what I figured when I bought it. They are cute when you stain them. So I did... and I love the way it looks now. I have no idea what I will use it for, but it was cheap and I can figure that out later. I have no doubt I will find a good use for it and perhaps even go back to Home Depot and buy another one. I ended up staying way longer than I planned because uncle Dale and aunt Teresa ended up coming over. So I hung out with them a bit... because I always enjoy their company.

Oh... I also went up Little Cottonwood Canyon with my friend Lacy that I helps run the gym at work. She is a lot of fun and we always enjoy chatting when I go to work out. We follow each other on Instagram and she loves my outdoor adventures and had been wanting to go on one with me since her husband isn't super into that. So she said... lets go check out the wildflowers before they die up at Little Cottonwood Canyon after work one day. So I said... absolutely. We went and had a lot of fun enjoying the great outdoors. Grabbed some dinner on the way home as well. She is young, but super chill and fun. Very easy to get along with. So glad we went. Hopefully that is not our last adventure.

Besides that, I have had another week off of my personal trainer. I have tried to exercise on my own, but I haven't been doing a great job of it this week. Sad. I would have gone back this week, but he was gone on vacation. Is it weird that I started off hating it so much and now it feels weird without it and a part of me misses it? Yikes! Who ever thought THAT would happen! Ha ha. Well, I will be back next week with him and hopefully two weeks off doesn't make it TOO hard to go back!

I guess that is it people! My life isn't really that exciting this week. It's hard for it to top Havasupai. Not all weeks can be as awesome and adventurous I guess.

Exploring Little Cottonwood Canyon

My friend Lacy wanted to go up Little Cottonwood Canyon and explore and check out the wildflowers before they die. I never turn down the outdoors, so I said of course! I met Lacy at the gym at work (where she works). She loves the outdoors but her husband... not so much, so she had been wanting to go with me. We went after work (I took off a little early). I even wore my new Wild Flower tank for the occasion.

After driving up to snowbird up Little Cottonwood, we got on the ski lift. I loved cruising up the mountain with my feet dangling off the ski lift. It's so relaxing. You just cruise while you feel the fresh air and take in the scene.

On the way up the mountain, I spotted my first moose of the summer. He was chillin in the little lake. I tried to zoom in and take a picture... but he is pretty far away. Look for the black dot in the water... that's a moose. I love seeing moose. They are pretty cool.

Then it was time to explore. Of course you KNOW I brought my hammock. I always bring my hammock.

We accomplished what we went for... we frolicked in those beautiful wildflowers... and it was awesome. I love summer.

And the evening ended with a great sunset. I love me a good sunset. They just bring happiness to my soul. What a great evening. Thanks Lacy for wanting to go!
