Italian Cooking Class

While Allison and I were in Italy, we REALLY wanted to take a cooking class. So... we signed up for one before we left. Where? In the beautiful city of Florence. We were so excited for this class and it didn't disappoint.

We went to this building where you walk inside and there is a kitchen behind the scenes and in the front room, there are 4 kitchen work stations. They split us up into 4 groups and we cooked our 4 course meal as a team. We had a fun group that happened to all know what we are doing in the kitchen. The older couple is from Gilbert AZ (not mormon) and the girl by Allison and I is from Canada. Also our Chef that helped us was the best. We also got all of our meals done the fastest. Just saying. If it were a competition, our group would have won all around.

First course was Panzanella. I had never had it before, but I liked it. I was weirded out that we were using soggy old bread to put in with different veggies... but it's actually quite tasty.

Second course was Fresh Egg Pasta. I was excited about this because I always wondered what it was like to make pasta from scratch. Well... I found out! I don't think I would ever be able to make it on my own, but it was sure fun to make it in the class. It was also very tasty. With the pasta we also made a Fresh Mediterranean Sauce.

Third course was my favorite. Stuffed Chicken with Pastry Crust. I would actually want to try making this again sometime. I LOVEd it.

Fourth course (dessert) was Ricotta Cake with Pineapple Sauce. It was good, but not my favorite. I prefer cheesecake.

After we were done making all of the food, which took a couple of hours, we then went to the basement to sit down and enjoy the meal that we cooked. The chef's that helped us make the food served us our food all cooked and ready one course at a time.  We all chatted and ate and laughed... it was a good time and a fun way to get to know some new people. We were so glad that we did this cooking class. It because one of the highlights of our trip. We even got to take the recipes home with us. I would love to do another cooking class when traveling in the future.

That is SO awesome. I'm glad you got to take the recipes with you, and that sounds like a super fun thing to do. We are planning on going to Florence, I'm going to have to get that information from you. :)
