McClelland, Mills & Malquist
Many know (because I have been talking about it for almost a year) that my friend Wes and I have been working on a CD of covering some of our favorite songs. After MANY months... we are done. We just have to put the songs on the CD and make the cover and all that jazz.
On the CD you will hear Wes sing.
You will hear me sing.
And you will hear the amazing Dave McClelland on Guitar.
Together we are McClelland, Mills & Malquist! Yeah... we never thought of a name for ourselves, so we just went with last names... which we felt appropriate since we do a lot of Simon and Garfunkle songs... they were our inspiration. :) Awesome bonus that all of our last names start with M. We are not pro, but we all sound good together and it was fun to do. Want a taste of what is on the CD? Go here.
The CD's hopefully will be ready to give out by Thanksgiving. Let me know if you want a copy.
*Special thanks to my BFF Neighbor, Darrell, for taking these pictures for us.

The Brocks
So Dave's best friend DHS (David H Smith) used to be in this band called "The Brocks". The Brocks still rock on... just without Dave. I have known about them for the last couple of years because of DHS, however I had never really listened to their music and gotten into it until Dave started playing them in the car on our way to different places. They are actually way good and I listen to them all the time now. I have also met them because Dave hangs out with them a lot and they are fun guys. Dave and I went to the main singers house tonight to listen to them practice just for fun. They really do have some great music so I thought I would share it on my blog. They are on itunes if you like their stuff and want it for your own.
My favorite song right now is actually band new and not on itunes yet. "Upside Down" is my favorite. I hope they go far. :)

Cannoli
So I'm in Boston... part of traveling somewhere new is getting the local food favorites. Besides the crab (which I also had), Boston is known for it's Cannoli's. While out exploring the city, Brad and Steve made sure we stopped by Mike's Pastry to get us some Cannoli's. They have many delicious pastries, however... the majority of the people go there for the Cannoli's.
It was an intense line out the door because it is so popular... but it was so worth the wait. I got a chocolate dipped Cannoli and it was a little piece of heaven. Just sayin.
They are so quick. Cash only, stick your cannoli's in a box and wrap it up and send you on your way. Happiness in a box. Making people's day better one Cannoli at a time. :)

Sophie
Remember when I did this post about how me Brad, Nate and Steve have all stayed super close and that Brad and Nate are married and have a baby now and that I finally got to meet Max?
WELL... I'm finally out in Boston visiting Steve and Brad which means I FINALLY got to meet Brad and Lauren's daughter Sophie. Don't worry, she is a year old now. No big deal. At least I finally got to meet her and hold her. She is a happy girl. Cute too... I thought she was cute in the pictures, but meeting her in person... she is cuter. :)
It's been so fun to hang out with my best buds. Sophie also came with us to explore the city. Our gang is growing. What started out as the 4 of us is now 8 of us (with spouses and kids). Now Steve and I need to find spouses and have a kid.

Flashback Friday 89
Today I'm flashing back to the summer of 94 or 95... is my guess. I'm not sure exactly what year this was, but judging by the way I look, that is my guess. Every summer my family went to Dinkey Creek since I was a baby. I feel like it is my second home (along with Disneyland). I believe in this picture we were practicing for skit night. By the look on my face... I was in a weird mood? I don't know how else to explain myself. Oh how I miss Dinkey Creek.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 142
Holy cow, it's November! Time goes by so quickly. Once Winter hits though... I'm going to want it to go by fast. I'm not looking forward to the snow.
So, I'm out of town again. Last Thursday I also went out of town for the weekend. I was gone for 3 1/2 days and then I was home for 3 days and now I will be gone for 4 1/2 days. I guess I am making up for not going out of town in August or September. One of the best parts of coming home, is sleeping in my bed. I love my bed so much. When I got out of it this morning, I was so sad to leave it... especially since I got out of bed at 4am.
Let's just talk about my day real quick. I got home from Dave's house after midnight. I had not packed yet. So I had to pack and get ready for my trip. Ended up going to bed around 2am or so just for my alarm to go off at 3:45 so I could get ready and be ready to leave the house at 4:15 to get to the airport by 5:15 to catch my flight that left at 6. I had a layover in Dallas. Landed in Dallas at 9:30 and my next flight was supposed to leave at 11. While waiting to board the plane they announced the plane was out of service and were getting another plane so we would be delayed an hour. An hour later we find out that plane was also out of service so they canceled our flight. Then I had to stand in a long line with a bunch of angry people for the next 45 minutes to book a new flight. I found out the next flight left at 1:10 in a different terminal, so I hopped on the tram to the other terminal and waiting with Stand by. Flight was full. No go. Then I hopped on the tram to another terminal for the next flight that left at 3:40. This plane I actually got on. SUCCESS. Sadly I had a middle seat instead of the window seat I had on my original flight. It was also a bummer that I was stuck in Dallas for 6 hours when I was only supposed to be there for an hour... running around trying to figure out what to do on an hour and a half of sleep. By the time I got to Boston I was so tired, I felt like I had been hit by a bus. I was mentally preparing myself for maybe being stuck in Dallas over night and thought about what I would do if that happened. I remembered my friend Logan lived there and thought it would be fun to see him and was going to text him if I couldn't get a flight out soon. Obviously I didn't do that, but I thought about how thankful I am to have to many friends in so many places that could help me out if I needed it. Anyway, I made it... so I'm happy about that, and excited to explore a new city that I have not been to before.
Since our big Halloween party was on Tuesday, I didn't really have plans on Halloween... which was kind of weird for me. Usually I have Halloween plans. I mean, we had pizza at work, but we never dress up. Trick or treaters came to Novell and went from office to office as they normally do. That was fun for me... so I bought candy to give out just for that. After work Dave invited me over to pass out candy to kids. It was pretty cute actually. He would get so excited every time someone came to the door. He would comment on everyone's costumes and loved teasing the kids. If we went a while without any trick or treaters at the door he would stand outside and watch for kids and yell out that he had candy and to come... one time he even did a jig. It was fun. I don't think I have ever stayed in and handed out candy before.
His roommate (Mr. Karaoke... which when I met Mr. Karaoke I didn't know he and Dave were roommates) was home too and we had a little jam session which was so fun. To prepare for karaoke night which will start back up this month. He is fun to sing with because he has a great voice. He also is an amazing pianist. So we just sang cheesy duets and old classics for a solid hour. I need more of that in my life. I love to sing.
So yeah... that was pretty much my week. Half of it was traveling since all Sunday was in the car coming back from California. Ah... Cali. It was so nice to take a nap on the beach in the warm sunshine. It was 85 degrees while we were there. I miss that already. I think my next vacation needs to be somewhere warm.
I will end with this picture... what my dad puts up with with his grandkids. He sure loves them and they sure love him.
