Sleep Cycle

I downloaded this App called Sleep Cycle. It measures what part of your sleep cycle you are in by your movement. You place your phone on your bed under the fitted sheet so it doesn't fall off and then you set an alarm (which it has many soothing alarms to choose from). The alarm can go off anywhere within the half hour before you set it to go off. The purpose of that is to wake you when you are in your lightest sleep so it is the most natural way to wake up and you feel refreshed when you do.

It is pretty fun to see my sleep stats every morning when I wake up. I usually don't get enough sleep as I should, so my % is not great. I think this is the highest % I have gotten. Megan text me on Saturday and sent me a screen shot of her sleep and she had gotten 100%. I don't even know how you do that.... though we decided getting anything 90% and above is like getting an a in sleeping class.

All of that aside... the App is worth getting just for the alarms alone. They are so soothing. WAY better than any alarm sounds that are on the iPhone, that's for sure.

Peek of Blonde

My friend Nicole does my hair. I usually don't have a plan for my hair when I go to get it done. I don't need a plan. Nicole keeps me trendy and up to date and I always love what she does with my hair.... so I trust her. I trust her to do whatever she wants. This is great because she gets me to try things that I wouldn't normally try. I was really unsure about the melt at first, but I ended up loving it and keeping it for a while.

This visit was no different. I was unsure about what she wanted to do, but I let her do it anyway. My hair is modeled after Christina Perri (singer).

I would have never chosen to have this done. Now that it is done... I think it is awesome and I'm rockin it. I have gotten a ton of compliments on it.... especially from the guys. I'm lucky that not only I have great hair, but that I can pull off a lot of different looks with my hair and have it look good.

Babysitting Max

Looking back 9 years ago when I first met Nate.... never would I have imagined that 1) we would have become such good friends 2) that we would have kept in touch all these years and 3) that I would be babysitting his son that is a little mini me of him. Interesting how life turns out.

I had only met Max once when he was 8 months old. He is now a year and a half and has a little brother on the way. I hadn't babysat in YEARS. I wondered how he would be for me. Max was great for me. We bonded. He is a super cute kid with a lot of personality. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. We played catch outside and did chalk drawings. We played with cars. I made him dinner. We danced and then sat on the couch together under the same blanket and watched a Mickey show. He was easy... which was nice.

So.... here is one of my best friends's son.... Max and me.

Flashback Friday 115

Flashing back to July 2005. My good friend Abby got married and Abby and Monica (who were my BFF's and my first friends in Utah) convinced me to go out to the wedding.... in Minnesota! My first time to the last of 10,000 lakes. Beautiful state. My Minnesota friends showed me a good time and it is always nice to be at a friends wedding. Fun excuse to visit a new place and have a free place to stay. :) I will always have good memories of Minnesota.

Confessions of a Brunette on the Internet 168

Can you believe it's May? I can't. Time goes by so fast. I have just loved all of the blossoming trees. I love taking walks and smelling all the flowers. Downside.... I have allergies.

Work as still been busy... but I think I am almost caught up, which is a nice thought.

Still doing well on the diet. Week 2 weigh in I lost 4 more pounds which puts me at 9 total so far and still 2 inches. It is very encouraging... which I need to be able to say no to all the food and treats that are constantly shoved in my face. I was told that I should start keeping a list of everything that I have been offered that I can't have and it would help me realize how much food I would normally be consuming that I don't need, I just eat it because it is offered to me or it looks good. Everything really does revolve around food. I have also noticed that since I have started doing this, that I have been encouraging everyone around me to be more healthy too. Maybe I should become a health coach when I'm done.

My roommates are all moved in and settled. They are great and I think we are going to be getting a long just fine. They are so loving. Always so sweet and giving compliments and telling me and everyone else that they love them. It's good. Helps me be more like that. I love being around nice people. You want to know why? It is infectious. Just like being around negative people are.... which is why I choose  nice people. :) I love a positive home. I'm blessed that I have been able to have that for the past year and will be able to continue to have that.

Now that I have a full house of popular girls.... our house is the party house... lots of people come over. Thank goodness I am a social butterfly and I like it like that.

You know what was great? Megan coming over tonight to finish our Harry Potter journey. I love those movies.... and I am happy to report that she did too. You know what is even better? She spent the night.  It hasn't even been a full week since she moved out, but I was so excited for her to stay tonight. I made a bed for her and gave her a tooth brush and an extra towel. I love having people over and being a hostess. Probably because I love my friends... and I love taking care of people. So hopefully that happens more in the future. I just love her.

Speaking of friends that I love... my good friend Kirsten came into town for her little brother's wedding last weekend. I was so happy that even though she was busy, she took the time to come see me. She even came to my work. We just sat outside since it was a beautiful day and just talked for an hour or so. I love my Kirsten time. I wish there were more of it.

Photo of the Week 166

I needed this today. I'm glad I live so close to one. Nothing better than a spring day at the temple. The temple flowers are amazing!
