Utah Dining - Take 4 - Food Truck Roundup

I'm continuing with my Utah Dining challenge and giving you a special edition.

You go to a little bit of a ghetto part of Provo on Thursday night between 5-9. Across from the Front Runner Station you will run into a crowd of people that have heard about the latest trend. What is this trend that everyone wants in on?

The Food Truck Roundup!
I have only been to the Food Truck Roundup in Provo, but I feel like I have been enough times now (and visited a couple other trucks in different places) to give a review on several of the trucks. I know there is also one in Salt Lake and one in Orem. Those are all I know of, there could be more and I know that this trend is spreading in Utah. I personally love it. Why? You have 15-20 food trucks all in one spot and you can try one every week, or try several in one night or go with your friends and get different things and share. It's a fun social event.

So here are the ones I have tried so far.

Pound It Kabobs
Greek food... kind of. I have only had one gormet pita... but it was good. I wouldn't be a posed to going back and trying another one.

Corndog Commander
Yep, you guessed it. Corndogs. I'm not that big into corn dogs, but there are actually quite good. And big. I even tried their dessert which are like fried snickers or something like that.

Green me
Green Smoothies. They have like 5 or 6 to chose from. If you are feeling healthy, these are good, but nothing so special you couldn't just make it at home. I tried it at Farmers Market once and I liked it.

Beli
They do sandwiches and desserts which they call "beli button", we had the desert. It was pretty good. Nothing I'm craving and need to go back for. Haven't tried anything other than dessert though.

The Matterhorn
I wanted to eat there just because it reminded me of Disneyland, but also because I like French Toast... and that is what they serve. More of a dessert type food though because a lot of their toppings are chocolate and fruit and syrup. So good. I loved it.

Charlie Boys
The serve Authentic Carolina BBQ. I had the sandwich.... they don't have many options. I liked it, but again not so good that I feel the need to go back for more.

The Grub Truck - Salt Lake
They serve tacos and stuff. The picture was taken in the dark, so you can't tell how yummy they look, but I got the Korean and Greek Taco's and they were SO good. Totally wish this truck came to the Provo Roundup.

Sweeto Burrito
Obviously burrito's. This is was the first food truck I heard of in Provo... getting all the hype. So I had been meaning to try this place for a while. SO many people talked about it. I finally tried it one of my last times at the roundup and.... I wasn't all that impressed. I felt like I could get a better burrito elsewhere. I just tried their signature burrito, so maybe I need to try another one? It was good, don't get me wrong, just with all the hype I was expecting amazing.

Special Courses
I think this s just a BBQ truck. I have only tried their corn... but that corn was good! I have been meaning to try some of their other stuff.

Fries!
This obviously serves fries. I'm not sure where they are based because I had it at Jornanelle Lake, but it was way good. I would go there again if I knew where they were. Their truck is a party. They literally had a DJ mixing it up while they cooked it up. I tried savory and sweet fries. Both super good.

Rita's
They serve Italian Ice. I love that stuff. I get the gelati's which is the Italian Ice layered with custard. Mmmmm SO good. I can't get enough. I love it.

Chedda Truck
They serve burgers, but not just any burgers... burgers with attitude! I had the Hipster, which is a Veggie Burger and I loved it, but I have been meaning to try more. I don't know if I would get the burger with donuts instead of hamburger buns... but I am willing to try some of the more creative burgers.

The Mouse Trap
The serve Grilled Cheese sandwiches. I got the Nicholas Cage (even though I don't like Nicholas Cage) and it was SO good. I have been wanting to go back here again.

There is so much more, this is only what I have tried so far! So much more that I want to try... although putting together this blog post makes me feel like a pig, but this is over months of going to the Food Truck Roundup. I also just found out that it will be happening all year round. Plus, it's just a fun social thing to do. Every time I have gone, I run into at least one person I know. Food brings people together and makes them happy. :)

I wish there were food trucks outside my house for every meal... these look awesome! The fries place reminds me of when I went to City College and was poor and hungry. I would get the big old yummy fries for $0.75 and then put free salsa on top at the condiments station. It might sound gross, but it was super good.
