Mr. Young and Innocent

So I'm doing the online thing right? I have been trying to be open minded, not just by going out with guys that I meet online, but also widening my age range and not caring how tall he is and so on and so forth. Nobody can tell me I'm still single because I'm being too picky. :)

Well... recently online, Mr. Young and Innocent wrote me an email. I thought he was kind of cute... so I wrote back. He wanted to take me on a date. I then noticed his age. This young man is only 22. 8 years younger than me is kind of a big difference... especially where we are in life. I asked him why he wanted to go out with a girl 8 years older than him. He told me age didn't matter, only that I am awesome. He scored points for that, so I agreed to go out with him. After I did this, I knew it was probably not the best idea.

I figured Mr. Young and Innocent was going to talk a lot about his mission. He is 22, I am assuming he recently got back. I was correct. Beyond that, I wasn't sure what to expect from the night. Once we exchanged numbers and started texting, there were some other things that I found out while we were planning what we were going to do. I am just going to point out the highlights of going out with a guy that is too young for me.

#1- Mr. Young and Innocent didn't have a car, therefore, I had to pick him up for our date. Slightly awkward.

#2 - He lives at the Riviera. This is great, for him. I loved living there too when I was his age.... 8 or 9 years ago.

#3 - He is just starting school. I graduated 9 years ago.

#4 - He had a boyish squeaky voice

#5 - He brought a backpack on the date because he wanted to watch a movie and all of this movies are on his laptop  so he brought his lap top....

#6 - His shirt was tucked in.... that may not seem like a big deal, but the way he was dressed said a lot.

For some reason, everyone I told was really excited for me to be going out with a 22 year old. Some because they thought it was awesome I wasn't letting age stop me from going out with a guy. Some because they figured it would be a funny story. Josh had dinner with us that night and said the blessing on the food and blessed that my date would be fun and bring good stories. Megan told her mom and her mom was excited for me because she said if I get them young I could mold them. Funny Tammy (Meg's mom) said that, because when I was with him I actually thought about molding him. That probably sounds bad... but I just saw his potential. He is actually a really cute guy. Cute smile, if I could only just help him with the way he dressed a little, and taught him how to not be quite as socially awkward and got him a car, he would be promising... for another girl. A little too nerdy for me (as in as a program on his computer that he can talk to and will talk back and find what he wants and talks like some computer in some movie), but he was really sweet and was adorable (as in little brother adorable).

He told me he wants to go out again, but I just don't think I can do it. I tried.

I always hope the guys you go on dates with don't read about themselves on your blog. Not that you say anything really bad (unless they are really bad), but I don't know if I would want to read about myself that way. :) Glad you tried it out. He does sound like a sweet boy.

It is an apartment complex of young kids that are all still in college. :) It's ghetto and close to campus.
