Let's be honest. I was really excited about Valentines Day because I was actually going to have a Valentine this year... and then we broke up a week before... so not so excited about Valentines day anymore. In fact... I didn't do a thing for anyone. I fell a little bad about that because usually I do nice things for people and that makes me feel good on that day even though I don't have a significant other. So I failed in that department. I guess there is always next year.
All of this being said... I wasn't depressed. I was a little sad, but I was with my awesome roommate McKenzie, and we had a good time. It was a relaxed Friday night and I didn't mind. Let me tell you how my day went.
For FHE we decorated heart cookies.
I went to work. As I got in my car to go to work I saw a little love on my car. Lauren and I went to the gym and they gave us a free bag a fruit for working out at the gym that day. My boss let us go a little over an hour early.
Oh, let's not forget about the love received the night before Valentines day. Daniel brought me a VERY sweet card and some chocolates and a big hug. My visiting teacher and friend Erin also brought me some yummy V-day treats.
When I got home from I saw that my new BFF Allison dropped off some yummy cookies. Also my new roommate Penny made some heart cookies.. like the organ, not the same. ha ha
The next thing I saw was that McKenzie had written messages all over. Like on the fish tank. The mirror in the bathroom by the kitchen...
and my favorite, the message she wrote me on my bathroom mirror... which I am totally keeping up. She is so sweet. I loved this surprise.
Then we got a knock on the door. It was another surprise! It was our next door neighbor/ home teacher/ good friend Geoff. What did he have? Red roses and a bottle of sparkling cider for each of us! He is THE SWEETEST. One of the most thoughtful people I know.
So the rest of the night, McKenzie and I watching the Olympics and ate treats and chatted and I started organizing and getting rid of junk... and my favorite part, we watched two movies while eating popcorn and drinking our sparkling cider in fancy glasses. We had a good time. The night wasn't what I thought it was going to be over a week ago, but it wasn't bad. Wasn't bad at all. I felt loved and glad that I had McKenzie home to spend time with.
Happy Valentines Day. I hope you all felt loved. Everyone deserves that.

Sounds like a wonderful Valentines day! You did more and received way more than me ;) We didn't do a thing. I didn't even do anything for my kids or Billy... I think the day is overrated really. I just try and them all everyday. We don't need a special day to tell us to go out of our way to show our love to someone. Sounds like LOTS of people did for you though... lucky girl. Love you sis. -Lori
