One night after a walk around the neighborhood, my new friend in the ward, Ashley, and I ended up on my back patio finishing our conversation from our walk. While rocking back and forth on my bench swing, she told me how much she loved my garden. I told her my vision of the garden and how I wanted to have a dinner back there before the summer ended. She was on that idea! Together we came up with the idea to do an Italian dinner out on the back patio. Soak up the garden and beautiful night weather before summer ends and that is no longer an option.
Thursday night was the night. We set up white lights that strung above the patio, set up lots of candles everywhere and had Andrea Bocelli and classical music playing. For dinner I made Chicken Cordon Bleu, Ashley made a Mediterranean Salad and Pasta with a homemade sauce with tomatoes and herbs right out of the garden. Then we had Italian bread that we dipped in oil (like you have at the Italian restaurants) For dessert we had vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches on top.
Not only was it picture perfect, but deliciously divine! It was exactly how I visioned it to be. Not sure why I had not done it before. I may have to make it a summer tradition and do it again next summer. :o)
Also, I need to give a shout out to my Grandma. Back in the day when the Lord of the Rings movies came out, I was really into them. I also read the books. The Hobbit was my first novel that I ever read and LOVED it. So when the movies came out, McDonald's started selling these Lord of the Rings Goblets, my Grandma decided she would collect them for me. Last time I was at her house, she got them out of the attic and gave them to me. It was really cute. I didn't know when I would ever use them.... but we decided to have grape juice out of goblets for dinner. The girls got real glass Goblets and the guys got the LOTR goblets.... which light up by the way. The guys were pretty excited about them. I think it would make my Grandma happy to know that I have used them. :o) Thanks Grandma!!
Here is the dinner party. We invited over some new fun guys in the ward. They were hilarious and we had a great time. I love dinner parties.
