Ever since I can remember, Larry Adams has been a good friend of my family. I grew up always having him around. My dad and him worked at a bakery together back in Santa Barbara and remained good friends ever since. He played with us as kids and was there for big events and many family dinner's and we even played with his daughter a little when we were younger. He even came with us on family vacation to Dinkey Creek for a couple of years. He has always just been part of the family. He is one of the sweetest guys that you will ever meet. I have never seen him without a smile on his face and a good attitude about life.
I knew that he had joined the church when I was young, but he was always in and out of activity with the church. Well... within the last year he moved in with a family in my home ward and really started going back to church. After my parents moved... he really got active and then decided that he wanted to go through the temple and started taking temple prep classes. He was wanting and ready to go through. I am so proud of Larry. So happy for him.
I guess a while back he saw the Salt Lake City Temple and told himself that he really wanted to go in there one day. Could you blame him? Its a beautiful temple. I want to get married there one day. So when he was ready to go through the temple, he decided that was the temple he wanted to go through and he asked my dad to be his escort. So my dad flew out to Santa Barbara for work and drove back with Larry and Larry has been in Utah for the past week and it has been so fun to have him around the family again like old times. I love seeing him. Hopefully this is not his last visit (he also came a couple summer's ago). On Wednesday Larry went through the temple. We made it a family event. I was able to leave work a little early to be there for this special day. It was a neat experience for me too, because I had never been to that temple for a session either. It is truly as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside. What an awesome experience to be there with my family and Larry going through for the first time.
After the temple, we all went and had dinner at "The Garden" which has an amazing view of the temple. It is always a treat to be able to spend quality time like this with my family. I love them a lot.
"I love to see the temple, I'm going there some day. To feel the Holy Spirit, to listen and to pray."
