Hiking to Silver Lake

Allison had to work the night of 4th of July. Bummer... I know. She still wanted to do something fun though, so I told her we would do something fun. So we drove up American Fork Canyon and hiked to Silver Lake in the HOT afternoon. It was beautiful... but boy was it hot. In fact... I didn't bring enough water and felt like I barely had enough energy to make it up the mountain. I have done the hike before and didn't have this hard of a time, so I'm blaming it on the heat.

Utah is a beautiful place and I have really been enjoying going out and discovering all the new and beautiful places that are near by. This is just an hour from where I live. Not bad! Once you drive there (4 miles up part of the mountain is on rough rocky road, I would suggest taking a car that can handle it) then it's about a 2 1/2 hour or so hike round trip. Up hill all the way there, down hill all the way back. We pretty much ran down the hill to try and get Allison back in time for work. We both enjoyed the hike though. Fun thing to do before heading over to my families house for the festive activities. Oh... and I wore my American flag shirt I made. I got a couple compliments on the trail from fellow hikers passing by. :)

PS Yes I know my sunglasses are huge. I need them to cover up my super red face. ha ha

Looks like a super beautiful hike. How nice that it is pretty close to you. I love that shirt... I need to look back on how you made that one again and make me one! I didn't have much to sport for the 4th ;)

Lori! I just spray painted it on the shirt and cut it into a tank top. It washes just fine.. spray paint stays on :)
