The Gum Wall

Have you ever heard of the Gum Wall? You can find it in Post Alley in Seattle Washington. Its gross and kind of cool at the same time. You get to leave your mark on Seattle. We found it, I left my gum in a spot with enough space that I didn't have to touch any other of the used gum. The gum on the wall goes a lot further down the alley than you can see in my pictures.

I wondered about how the gum wall started. So in case you are wondering too, below is what I found online.
"The Gum Wall is a local landmark in downtown Seattle, in Post Alley under Pike Place Market. Similar to Bubblegum Alley in California, the Gum Wall is a brick wall now covered in used chewing gum. The wall is covered several inches thick, 15 feet high for 50 feet. The wall is by the waiting line for the Market Theater, and the tradition began around 1993 when patrons of Unexpected Productions' Seattle Theatresports stuck gum to the wall. Theater workers scraped the gum away twice, but eventually gave up after market officials deemed the gum wall a tourist attraction in around 1999. People initially stuck coins to the wall using the gum, and some people create small works of art out of gum. A scene for the 2009 Jennifer Aniston film Love Happens was shot at the wall in 2008."

It was named one of the top 5 germiest tourist attractions in 2009, second to the Blarney Stone. It is the location of the start of a ghost tour, and it is a popular site with wedding photographers.

Here is documentation of me and the gum wall. You can see my gum (the small white one right in the middle... to stay in Seattle forever)

San Luis Obispo has a gum wall too! I have been to that one, but it is not as gnarly as Seattle's... gross & cool at the same time.

I've seen a lot of gum walls and gun trees in my travels, the most impressive was in NYC, but this one is awesome too!

So gross... but true that it also looks really cool. I don't think I'd want to go near that wearing a wedding dress though!
