Christmas at Novell

As soon as we come back to work from Thanksgiving break, its Christmas time at Novell. They decorate the cafe they put lights in the trees and when you walk into the main lobby of (both sides) there are BIG Christmas trees and presents that spell out Novell. I love it.

Christmas at Novell also means LOTS and LOTS of food. Seriously. We got invited to a pot luck with the legal/ security department, a pot luck with the Pricing Department AND just our team (Contracts) went to Ruby River. On top of all the lunches, we have two December birthday's in our department (me and Paul R) so we get treats. On top of even that everyone gets gifts for each other for Christmas... which the majority of the department give treats. This year I made Christmas Cupcakes in a Jar, which was a huge hit and will be blogging about soon. My boss also gave me a itunes gift certificate (he knows how much I love music) and he took us all out to breakfast this morning. More food!!! I am going to need to go on another diet!

Wednesday was pretty much the best day at work ever and let me tell you why. It started out with me having to get up early for the Law meeting we have once a month. Not so fun. At that meeting our department was recognized for our awesome work. I didn't know at the time, but I guess this means that we get  an award to put up in the office and it also means we each get $100. Go Contracts! After our meeting, we worked for a few hours and then all left to have lunch at Ruby River. YUM! Then after lunch we went to the movies, for the first time since I have worked there and all the movies we have seen, the team split up to see two different movies. I chose Narnia which I thought was awesome.  We got out of the movie and it was almost 4pm... so.... instead of going back to work, we just went home early. Why go back to work for an hour? It is pretty awesome to not only not pay for going out to lunch and the movies, but to get paid for having lunch and going to the movies. Oh, did I also mention that it was pay day that day AND we got our awesome Christmas bonuses that day which was almost double of my awesome bonus I got last year? Yep. Best day at work ever!

Because Novell is now owned by Attachmate, I have no idea what this next year will bring, but I am pretty sure this will be our last Christmas together. This makes me sad, I really like my department. Every person I have got to know and appreciate and really enjoy all of their friendships. I have never enjoyed working for a company more than I do working for Novell. I know not all departments at Novell are as lucky as we are. We all get along so well and have so much fun together. Thank you Novell co-workers for being so awesome to work with. No matter what happens in this next year, I will always be thankful for our time working together. Merry Christmas.

Holy smokes! That sounds like a day I would love to have.... but never will. Enjoy your awesome life, sister.

If I worked at Novel during Christmas time, I would rearrange the letter blocks by the Christmas trees to spell out other things... like lloven oven and stuff like that.
