Life is Beautiful

This past weekend I had a couple little reminders that Life is beautiful. Not that anything amazing happened. My little reminders came from a movie and a talk in church.

The movie that I saw on Saturday was "Midnight in Paris". It is a movie about a writer that is in Paris with his fiance. While he is there he wishes that he lived in Paris during the 20's. He thought that life would have been better in the 20's. He gets to live that dream at midnight every night while he was in Paris. He ends up meeting some famous people from the 20's and the people from the 20's wished that they lived in the past as well. It was a really cute movie where you got a touch of history and a nice life lesson... to be happy with where you are at now. People always think the grass is greener on the other side, but turns out... on the other side they are thinking the same thing about your side. So learn to enjoy the grass on your own side.

The talk on Sunday was by my friend Oliver. He talked about how life is beautiful and come to love where you are at. He is from the East Coast and talked about how he wanted to serve a hard mission where we had to go to a country far away where he would be faced with many challenges, but then he got his call to SLC Utah. He said he kicked the letter to the ground. He got here and didn't like the dessert and that there were not as many tree's as the east coast and that he didn't know what he was supposed to do being surrounded by LDS people. Then he went on to say that the Lord called him there for a reason and so he changed his attitude and began to love it there. Love the nature around him, love the people and changed his attitude completely. (he put it so much better than I am)

Not that I have a horrible attitude or don't appreciate my life, but it is nice for me to have these reminders. It is VERY easy to find the bad in everywhere that we are and everything that we do. It is just as easy to find the good. Sometimes it is easy for me to complain about living in Utah... being over it and missing my beautiful hometown of Santa Barbara. The truth is... there is good and bad to everywhere you live, so why not just look at the good. Utah is a really beautiful place to live. I love exploring the nature around the state. I complain about the snow... but I have never appreciated Spring/Summer & Fall as much as I do now that I have been living in Utah. Watching the season's change is beautiful. I am surrounded by good people. I love living close to some of my family. I don't have the most exciting job in the world... it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I love my co-workers and my work atmosphere and how close I live to work and the great benefits that come with my job. Therefore, I love my job. I think that no matter where I move to in my life, I can love it. There are so many amazing and talented people in this world. They inspire me to want to do more with myself. I have an amazing family. I love having the opportunity to travel and see more amazing and beautiful places in this world. I'm thankful for all the musicians out there that create such beautiful and fun music. I love music. Music makes me happy. We live in an incredible time in a incredible world. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

Life is beautiful. It really is. Just remember that. I'm thankful for the little reminders that I get so that I remember.

I loved Midnight in Paris! Such a good message, and Rachel McAdams made me want to be nicer to my husband. A lot nicer.

Mosiah 18:30 - And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the awaters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall bsing to his praise forever.
