Last week my friend Liz told me about the Santa Run in Provo and asked me if I wanted to run it with her and Steph. I had never heard of it, but when you sign up, you get a Santa Suit. It sounded hilarious... so I signed up to run it with her. SO glad I did. It was seriously the most hilarious run I have ever done.
The run was on Saturday, December 1st and it started at 4:30 in the afternoon. Totally weird because every run I have done has been first thing in the morning. Seeing as it is December, I guess the later the better for the run. Thankfully we had pretty warm weather. It has been in the 50's lately. I drove over with Steph and Liz and we waited for the race to start. We laughed as we looked at ourselves in our poorly made and poorly fitted Santa Suits SURROUNDED by people dressed exactly the same. It was like "Where's Waldo". We also ran into some other people from our ward that were running the race as well.
The race started. Liz and I were both feeling a little under the weather, so we decided to take it easy and jog and talk. I even brought my camera along so that we could take pictures when we saw something particularly funny.
At the water stations, they not only had water, but there were Elves / Santa's helpers handing out cookies and milk... no lie.
During our run we saw some people running as elves and a couple of guys that were running as the Grinch. Some people jazzed up their Santa Suit. One guy was running in one of those Santa skin tight body suits. On our second lap we saw the Grinch! Naturally Liz and I stopped to take a picture with him. We obviously were not racing for the best time. Steph however was and that was about when she lapped us! ha ha. Funny story... as Liz and I were on our third lap, jogging along... a guy in a truck slowed down and yelled out at us "Pick up the pace girls". We laughed and were like... hey, we are not walking, nor are we in last place. Meanwhile Steph was done and got 5th place out of 600. Way to go Steph.
At the end of the race they had music and hot chocolate and chips and we went and saw the reindeer then went out to dinner (still dressed as Santa of course) and went home.
Thanks Liz and Steph for inviting me to do this with you! It was so fun. What a fun way to start December and the Christmas season!

Agreed!
Do you keep the suits? That run sounds like a lot of fun. :)
This run sounds AWESOME!! Was it a 5K? I would LOVE to be in a race like that. I should start one in SB :)
Kristy, yes... you get to keep the suit.
Lori, yes it was a 5k. I forgot to put that. You should get it started in SB. It was a blast.
I think those beards are freaky, but the suits are cute, however poorly fitted. I think Hyacinth did a run like this in SB. This is the first year I have heard f anything like it.
