About a month ago, my friend Moroni came to visit me. He was telling me about his summer fun adventures. One of the things that he told me about was The Bottomless Pitt. The more he told me about it, the more I wanted to go. I couldn't believe I have been in Provo all of these years and never knew about it. I mean, I am a pyro after all. :o)
*Side Note* my new friend Ashley C. and I went on a walk today and were talking about how there are all kinds of cool things to do in Utah that we have never heard of and have never done. We want to come up with a Provo/Utah bucket list while we are living here.
The Bottomless Pitt is one I can now cross off my list. It is out in the middle of nowhere in Sanaquin, Utah. There are some old mining Pitts out there. Seriously, you can't tell how deep it actually goes. There is a iron covering over it, so you can walk over this DEEP pit. Ever since Moroni told me about this, I have been saving up my empty milk jugs. You take the milk jugs and fill them with gasoline and then throw them into the Pitt for an awesome explosion!
We had a big crowd. Probably like 40 people came.
So we had a lot of milk jugs of gas. I believe they spent over a hundred bucks in gas. Don't worry, everyone pitched in 5 bucks. It was totally worth it. Sometimes they would lower the jugs down with a rope and put the rope on fire too. It was a cool to see a long line of fire going down into the Pitt. The only downfall to this event is that I now smell like gasoline. I actually like that smell... just not on me. ha ha. Anyway,,, I had a lot of fun.
Tina came with me. She really enjoyed it too. I think we both have a love for fire.
This is my friend Moroni that told me about the event. We actually met a couple of years ago on a camping trip and have been good friends since. I actually blogged about that camping trip here. Anyway... he is pretty much one of my favorite people.

oh Trace be careful. Ace got a trip to the hospital and second degree burns from these pits once.
wowow that is so cool!
I currently live in upstate new york. There are so many fun and cool things here too that people don't realize.
I guess people never think to explore the place they live in lol
They so should though! There are always fun and exciting things to be explored.
I can't decide how I feel about this! Fun time.... Waste of money... danger... excitment... I guess I would have to experience it for myself to know the answer for me!
It is not a waste of money when everyone is pitching in on the fun. If you like fire, you would like it.
Yeah! I've totally been there! I heard about it from a friend from Spanish Fork so a group of us went and explored while I was living in Liberty Square....pretty fun stuff!
what is this guy'story?... he is single right? you should date him!
ps ...i'm with your mom.. the fire thing seems a little crazy but I'm not sure.
I cant believe there is anything left in provo that you havent done!
First off Morni is hot and you should date him...you make a cute couple. Second I love the pits. I haven't thought about them in years. We use to go all the time, but we would catch tons of things on fire and throw it down the pits. LOVE FIRE! Third, becuase there always has to be a third if you know anyone who like to go spulunking there is a cave just south of Mapleton they haven't closed down yet. It's over 100 feet deep and you have to self propell for about 30ft. SUPER fun to go in but a pain to get out of if your not major strong. We would take a jeep out and repel down using the jeep as an anchor.
I heard about the Pit, but the way my friend described it made it sound SUPER dangerous... and I called him an idiot for throwing gas down it. Oops.
Um, this Moroni character - He is handsome! Why don't you get on that Tracy?!
