My sister Kristy got really into making cards. They are adorable. Two Christmas's ago, she made everyone in the family a stack of different cards for different occasions. I thought it was such a cute gift idea. I used to scrapbook a lot, but I got really tired of it. I will most likely still do it for special occasions... but other than that I have retired from scrap booking all of my pictures. So, I guess this is why I never got into cards. I also didn't think that I would ever be able to be creative enough to think of cute card ideas. So I never got into it.
Well, since my mom and sister Lori are in town, Kristy invited us all to go to one of her card parties with her. I had no idea how it worked until we went, but it is different than what I thought. Everyone at the party brings a card that they made and then supplies for everyone else to make the same card. You keep switching places until you have made all of the cards. Kristy did all the work for us since we had never been to a card making party and don't have any stuff. So we were lucky and just got to show up and leave with 13 cute cards. It was actually a lot of fun to make these cards. I don't know if I would want to invest the money to get a bunch of stamps and such to get into card making BUT... I am sure if I ever want to go to another one of the parties, I could go with my sister again.
Anyone else into this? I was totally out of the loop at this party and had to learn a lot with making these cards. It was fun though. Homemade cards are definitely the cutest and best cards to get.
Here are just a few that I made that night.

Stampin' Up!? Ummm which company is she a demonstrator for? I don't know if we can be friends if its not for Stampin' Up... seeing as I design for them now. :)
P.S. I agree... homemade cards are the only way to go! That and digital scrapbooking! Much better use of time! (Of course I may be a bit biased.)
I am also quite jealous that you guys did this. Card making parties are right up my alley.
Speaking of the word "alley"... do you remember that computer game called Alley Cats? I don't remember much about it, but it the opening screen and song just popped into my head.
Oh my gosh! I totally remember that game... just vivid in my mind. Seems like we had a lot of random computer games.
We wish you were at the card party too Jamie!
so fun! I love making cards too, but I have gotten sucked into buying the cards from costco that look home made but aren't. time to get my crafty side back...
